General Location Information

The Rousey Home Place is located in central Kentucky, approximately 50 miles south-southwest of Lexington.

It is about 15 miles south-southwest of Danville, KY, and near the towns of Junction City and Hustonville.

The property is just outside an area known as Butchertown, near the county line of Casey and Boyle counties.

The Old Rousey Homeplace sits along Carpenter Creek Road / Butchertown Road (these are essentially the same road).

Look for a rock entrance leading up a hill. Once at the top, take the left fork in the road to reach the Rousey Cabin.

 


 

 

Directions from the North (Danville – Hwy 127)

  • Take Hwy 127 South to Junction City (approximately 3 miles).

  • Go through the stoplight at Hwy 300 (Hardee’s will be on your left).

  • About 1/4 mile past the light, turn right onto Knob Lick Road (across from a Shell Mart).

  • Go 0.6 miles to a dead end and turn left onto Hwy 37 West.

  • Continue for 7.6 miles, then turn left onto Carpenter Creek Road.

  • Go 1.5 miles and turn left just past a concrete bridge into the Rousey Homeplace.

  • A sign will mark the entrance.

 


 

Alternate Route from Junction City

  • At the Junction City stoplight, turn right onto Hwy 300.

  • Travel about 1 mile, just past the railroad tracks, and turn left onto Hwy 37 West (White Oak Road).

  • Follow Hwy 37 West for approximately 8 miles.

  • Turn left onto Carpenter Creek Road.

  • Go 1.5 miles and turn left just past the concrete bridge, heading up the hill into the Rousey Homeplace.

 


 

Directions via Hustonville

From the North:

  • Take Hwy 127 South to Hwy 78 and turn right (west) at the gas station/convenience store.

From the South (Liberty):

  • Take Hwy 127 North to Hustonville.

  • Turn left (west) onto Hwy 78 at the gas station/convenience store.

Once on Hwy 78 West:

  • Go 0.8 miles.

  • Turn right just before a bridge onto Black Pike.

  • Continue 0.5 miles to Maxey Valley Road.

  • Turn left and go 0.7 miles.

  • Turn right onto Carter School Road and go 1.4 miles to Butchertown Road.

  • Turn left onto Butchertown Road and continue 4.3 miles.

Important:
This road becomes narrow in places and winds up a hill—stay on the paved road.

  • Turn right up the hill to the Rousey Homeplace just before a bridge.

  • Look for fieldstone posts marking the entrance.
