Malachi Ministries
St. Malachi Church, a Roman Catholic parish, located at the corner of West 25th and Washington Avenue, has been serving the marginalized of the near west side of Cleveland, Ohio for over 150 years. In addition to providing all the services of a typical Catholic parish, St. Malachi provides over $100,000 in ministries to the needy of the area. Backdoor Ministry serves food Monday through Friday on a carryout basis. The backdoor ministry began in the 1970s. The number served varies, ranging from 100 – 150 people per day, bringing the total meals served per year to approximately 33,000 meals at a cost of about $165.000.
Monday Night Meal is almost 50 years old, having started in the late 1960s. A nutritious, hot meal is served every Monday night in the parish hall. The number served varies, averaging 200 meals per night and over 10,000 meals per year at a cost of about $198,000.
Saturday Morning Breakfasts serves a hot breakfast every Saturday in the parish hall for about 150 people, or over 7,000 meals per year at a cost of about $35,000. Once a month the Church partners with a clothing distribution ministry and passes out clothing and toiletries to the breakfast attendees. Malachi runners sign up to serve this meal when they register for the run/walk.
Recovery Programs are hosted by the Church. Two 12-Step meetings are held each week in the school building. For about 40 years, each spring and fall, the Church offers the Samaritan Ministry Addiction Awareness workshop, a half-day education program on the problems of addiction, its causes and effects, and the recovery process.
Rental and Utility Assistance is provided to those in need on a case-by-case basis.
Youth Diversity Program allows inner-city students to participate in the St. Malachi Church Run/Walk. This program is in partnership with the YMCA.
West Side Care Creation Team organizes monthly clean-ups of the near west side neighborhoods of Cleveland.

Malachi Center is a community and family resource center that was started in 1985. The Center strives to empower individuals to overcome the challenges they face through educational support, social programs, and direct service.
Malachi House is a home for the dying poor and those who have no one able to care for them at the end of their life. A trained staff and volunteers provide spiritual, emotional, and physical support with the assistance of a hospice team.
