Steve Derks was a faithful church member and accomplished runner. Steve's prescription (SDRx) for life was Drive, Discipline, & Determination. The Steven Derks Memorial 5K was established in 2022 to honor Steve and his lasting legacy. Proceeds from the race benefit the neuromedicine ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital in honor of Steve.

The pictures below include some of our favorite running memories of Steve: early on in his running career with one of his first marathons, the Shoreline Half Marathon, the Rochester Marathon (2008), as well as Steve and Donna's final race together, the Anchorage half in June of 2019.
