Course Map
Below is the Suffer Better Ride & Tie course map. Teams will start and finish at the Mason Creek Parking lot. There are 4 distinct segments, each about 5 miles long, and 3 transition areas. Runners/riders will switch roles at each transition spot, with the runner becoming the rider and vice versa.
Staunton has a variety of parking areas, so you'll just have to find your spot and get to the Mason Creek lot for the start. We are starting early (7 am) so there should be parking at the MC lot, which we have reserved for the event. The Park has also asked us to utilize a shuttle system, which we will do. Details on that are being worked out now.
You must either carpool, with two Park n Ride areas on 285 that are ideal for meeting up, or park at the Park n Ride on 285, about 4 miles from the Park, where you can grab the event shuttle. We are focusing our event on ways to improve our air, and the park charges $10.00/vehicle, so.....
We've changed the location of the first Aid Station, combining it with the 2nd Aid Station for logistical reasons. Aid Stations 1 and 2 are now located at the intersection of Bugling Elk and Marmot Passage Trails, next to the Elk Falls Pond. The change lengthens segment 1 by about 1/2 mile, which is all downhill. The change also shortens segment 2 by that same half mile. Something to consider as you decide who does what when.
