Client Story
Every Child Deserves to Be Heard
When Evie was 6, she stopped speaking.
Not because she couldn’t — but because the world no longer felt safe enough to use her voice. The trauma she experienced silenced her laughter, her questions, her songs.
Then she came to Family Service of the Piedmont. At first, progress came in small signs: pointing instead of speaking, then soft sounds, then one-word answers. Slowly, over a year and a half of therapy and medication management, Evie began to speak again, not just at home, but in school, in public, and eventually, anywhere.
Today, Evie is nine years old and thriving. Her voice - once silenced by fear - now rings out loud, proud and joyful.
But there are still so many children like Evie who are waiting to be heard.
Sponsoring the High Point Guild's Superhero Dash 5K and Family Fun Run helps children heal from trauma, find their voices, and reclaim their futures.
Together, we can make sure no child’s voice is lost to fear again.
