IMPORTANT RACE DAY UPDATE:
We have made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Run for Govs event. With heavy rain and strong winds in the forecast, along with other activity in the area, conditions on the course are likely to be hazardous, and the safety of our community has to come first.
We know many of you have put a lot of time into training for this, and we’re disappointed too. The good news is that your preparation won’t go to waste. You will now be a virtual race participant.
To submit your race time, please log into your RunSignUp account.
Click on Race info > Results > Submit Virtual Results >Look up your information>Click Submit Virtual Results>Enter our time>Your time will show on the results page after a few minutes. Please submit your virtual time by November, 19th, 2026.
Take a photo with your medal or bib and tag us!
You may still swing by to pick up your packet today until 6:00 p.m.

Domino's Run for Govs 5K
High on a windy hill, overlooking the confluence of the Red and Cumberland rivers, stands Emerald Hill, home of Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association and the start and finish for the Run for Govs 5K and Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk For the Govs. Listed in the National Register of Historic Sites, this mansion has a history that is as rich as the traditions of the University. As runners come to conquer Emerald Hill, they will embark on a journey of accomplishment as they endure the winding course to the top. Truly, the name given by Gustavus A. Henry was appropriate. It was and still is an Emerald Hill.
Whether you run or walk, your participation will benefit student scholarships and funds that are an Austin Peay experience, paying it forward for our Govs.

Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk For the Govs 1K
The Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk For the Govs 1K is in honor of Run For Govs 5K Committee member, Valerie Hunter-Kelly.
After completing her first half-marathon in 2012, she became an avid runner, with a mission to run a marathon or half-marathon in all fifty states and Washington, D.C. In January 2020, she accomplished that goal when she completed a half marathon in Maui, Hawaii, along with many friends and family who traveled with her to celebrate the milestone.
She was lovingly surrounded by her immediate family when she crossed her final finish line on Saturday, November 7, 2020, in Nashville, Tennessee. Valerie had a legacy of determination, service, professionalism, humor, and a contagious zest for life. She loved travel, good food, meeting new people, problem-solving, and a challenge. She was a treasured daughter, friend, and mentor, a leader, a wife and a mother.
The proceeds from Valerie's 1K will benefit the Valerie Hunter-Kelly (HHP) Scholarship. As she was passionate about helping others, this scholarship assists students in professional development endeavors.

5K Awards:
Cash awards go to the overall first, second, and third-place male and female winners ($100, $75, $50).
Race medals will be awarded to anyone who conquers Emerald Hill during the 5K race.
Scholarships ($100) will be awarded to student winners.
NOTE: Participants may only qualify for one cash or scholarship award. Students are not eligible for cash awards.
* We are happy to partner with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in support of their service project.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Austin Peay is partnering with Soles4Souls to collect gently worn and new shoes that can be given a second life and help support communities in need. We are asking students, staff, and faculty. alumni, and community members to donate shoes that are still in good condition.
Please make sure the shoes are clean, dry, and paired together before donating.
How to Donate:
-Bring your gently worn or new shoes to our designated collection table at the race
-Tie or secure shoes together as a pair
