Description

Texas' Hottest trail race, the Habanero Hundred was born from a summer long-run gone wrong (ask Race Director Cal) and is now one of the largest trail races in the state, held in August every year with options for many distances and the marquee event being the 100-mile distance. The relay option will also allow you to run with a team, friends, or family to complete this monumental task. In the first year of the event we only had ONE finisher in the 100 Mile event, Julie Schmal! Ever since we have put our 100mi finishers' names printed on the back of the next year's shirt. Between 2015 and 2024 there have only been 162 finishes of the Habanero Hundred 100mi. Are you up for the challenge? Or maybe start with one of our shorter solo distances or join a team in the highly competitive relay events for either the 100km or 100mi distance relays

The race is held at the beautiful 7IL ranch just outside of Bellville, Texas. The ranch has been open for more than five generations, and it was opened for public use in 1999. The facility is over 1,150 acres with water/electric and RV hookups as well.

The Habanero Hundred is set up to start at HIGH NOON, and the 30-hour cutoff will end at 6:00 PM on Sunday.  All runners will receive an event shirt, the race will be chip-timed, and we will have free pictures for all runners. There will be belt buckles for 100M & 100K finishers, and medals for the 50k, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and Relay Teams.

Place

The event takes place at 7IL Ranch. The 7IL driveway is located off of Mill Creek Rd. between Bellville and Cat Spring. This is a dirt road and driveway, please slow down to minimize dust and watch for animals, farm machinery, as well as local and race traffic. The race course crosses the driveway, vehicles must stop for runners crossing.

Race Map

The 2025 course will be the standard 7IL Yellow Loop clockwise. You will stay left at all of our course intersections. Keep in mind that 7IL is an equestrian trail ranch that has many different trails with signage/arrows that are not part of our TROT course markings, do not blindly follow permanently fixed trail markers. The race course will be marked with ground pin flags with reflectors, tape, arrows and/or signage for areas requiring more guidance. The loop is 10km long.

100M = 16 Loops

100k = 10 Loops

50k = 5 Loops

Marathon = 4 Loops*

Half Marathon = 2 Loops*

10k = 1 Loop

Please review the map and pay attention at the pre-race meeting for instructions.

* Marathon and Half Marathon events have a special add-on out-and-back section at the very beginning of loop 1 only, before continuing on the standard 10km loop for the remainder of the race.

Relay Pricing

The relay uses tiered pricing based on the number of team members. This is to account for resource requirements and pricing fairness against individual distances. The initial team members will pay a higher registration fee, but will be refunded as additional members join, to balance out the pricing amongst team members as follows:

100M Relay

Members 1-2 Pay $175

Member 3 Pays $127 (Members 1-2 Refunded $48)

Member 4 Pays $103 (Members 1-3 Refunded $24)

Member 5 Pays $90 (Members 1-4 Refunded $13)

100K Relay

Members 1-2 Pay $150

Member 3 Pays $110 (Members 1-2 Refunded $40)

Member 4 Pays $90 (Members 1-3 Refunded $20)

Member 5 Pays $80 (Members 1-4 Refunded $10)

Pacers

Pacing is allowed in the 100M and 100K events only. Runners may only have one (1) pacer with them at a time. Each pacer must register on RunSignup as a pacer (this will open in August), listing their runner, and wear a pacing bib received at packet pickup or the timing tent on race day. Pacers will be required to have a 7IL Ranch venue pass (not included with free pacer registration). Pacers must start and finish at the main start line and remain with their runner at all times unless under an emergency. Pacers are allowed to "mule" for their runners.

100M runners may have a pacer once they have completed eight (8) loops of the course (halfway / 50M).

100K runners may have a pacer after they have completed six (6) loops of the course (final four loops only).

There is no pacing for any other solo event or relay teams.

Guest Passes, Parking, and Camping

GUEST DAY PASS

GUEST CAMP PASS

The venue fee is now included in the runner and pacer registration. All other individuals 12 years or older (includes crew/spectator/etc.*) entering 7IL Ranch are required to purchase a $5 Day Park Pass or $10 Camp Park Pass on the TROT store. This fee goes directly to the landowner. A wristband will be issued once your order is confirmed at the check-in table located at packet pickup, or the main event tent once the race begins (for later arrivals). This covers trail access, parking, bathrooms and showers, and primitive camping for the entire week. You may come and go as you please. Passes can be pre-purchased online via the TROT store (see links above).

You are welcome to car-camp or set up a small camp in the field surrounding the start/finish. Generators and camp stoves are allowed. No open fires. Do NOT leave any garbage or items once you leave. "LEAVE NO TRACE".

RV sites are limited and must be reserved directly with 7IL Ranch.

Proceed down the driveway, left of the finish line arch, and behind the TROT Aid Station for all parking and camping.

When entering the ranch, yield to any runners at the course crossing (umanned aid) along the driveway, continue to the end of the driveway and make a left to park behind the start/finish line / main aid station. No vehicles allowed along the course line to the right, or at the pavilion area unless you have a reserved RV site.

Do not use the large trash dumpster in front of the private residence along the driveway. Do not park along the driveway.

From the parking area, you can walk up to the barn/pavilion for packet pickup and merchandise. This is also where you can find showers/bathrooms.

Along the first 1/4mi of the course you are welcome to setup canopies and personal support areas (no cars).
