Race Map

This year we are running the standard 7IL Yellow Loop counterclockwise. Keep in mind that 7IL is an equestrian trail ranch that has many different trails with signage/arrows that are not always pointing the right way. The race course will be marked with ground pin flags with reflectors, tape, and/or signage for areas requiring more guidance. The loop is 10km long.

100M = 16 Loops

100k = 10 Loops

50k = 5 Loops

Marathon = 4 Loops*

Half Marathon = 2 Loops*

10k = 1 Loop

Please review the map and pay attention at the pre-race meeting for instructions.

* Marathon and Half Marathon events have a special add-on out and back section at the very beginning of loop 1 only (1.1km and 2.2km) before continuing on the 10km loop.

Start, Lap, and Finish Instructions

We have two starts that will be kicked off by our local police cheif Jason Smalley with his classic six shooter pistols. The ultra/relay events start at high noon. The sub-ultra events start at 12:30.

Each start will head under the arch and out the finishing chute to get on course. This is the only time runners head out under the arch.

For the remainder of the race, the finishing chute is incoming runners only. Runners completing a lap come into the chute and through the arch, passing over the center of the timing mats to record their lap time.

Do not go back over the timing pads to start your next lap. Continue on to the aid station, personal-area, showers, etc. and then head out the opposite side of the chute to start your next lap.

Relay runners exchange after passing through the arch and the new runner will head out on the opposite side of the arch.

You can confirm with the timer after each lap that your lap was recorded and check your lap number.

Once you have completed your event you collect your medal right away from our volunteers - keep in mind we have quite a few distances running so don’t be shy about finishing, be loud and proud of your accomplishment.

If you decide to end your race early please checkout with the timer.

Place

The event takes place at 7IL Ranch. The 7IL driveway is located off of Mill Creek Rd. between Bellville and Cat Spring. This is a dirt road and driveway, please slow down to minimize dust and watch for animals, farm machinery, as well as local and race traffic. The race course crosses the driveway, vehicles must stop for runners crossing.

Description

Texas' Hottest trail race, the Habanero Hundred was born from a summer long-run gone wrong (ask Race Director Cal) and is now one of the largest trail races in the state, held in August every year with options for many distances and the marquee event being the 100-mile distance. The relay option will also allow you to run with a team, friends, or family to complete this monumental task. In the first year of the event we only had ONE finisher in the 100 Mile event, Julie Schmal! Ever since we have put our 100mi finishers' names printed on the back of the next year's shirt. Between 2015 and 2024 there have only been 162 finishes of the Habanero Hundred 100mi. Are you up for the challenge? Or maybe start with one of our shorter solo distances or join a team in the highly competitive relay events for either the 100km or 100mi distance relays

The race is held at the beautiful 7IL ranch just outside of Bellville, Texas. The ranch has been open for more than five generations, and it was opened for public use in 1999. The facility is over 1,150 acres with water/electric and RV hookups as well.

The Habanero Hundred is set up to start at HIGH NOON, and the 30-hour cutoff will end at 6:00 PM on Sunday.  All runners will receive an event shirt, the race will be chip-timed, and we will have free pictures for all runners. There will be belt buckles for 100M & 100K finishers, and medals for the 50k, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and Relay Teams.
