Description
El Paso's premier multisport event, Eagle in the Sun Triathlon has introduced thousands to their first triathlon. Now entering its 16th year, the race is a favorite for new and experienced athletes alike and welcomes relay teams in addition to individual competitors.
Eagle in the Sun Triathlon begins with a 400-meter swim in a 50-meter pool. Participants then ride on a mostly flat 12-mile out-and-back bike on the Border Highway and run 5K run on the Playa Drain Trail.
First 600 participants guaranteed to receive a moisture-wicking race shirt, athlete bag, water bottle and swim cap. All participants will receive post-race snacks and drinks, an interactive race day Expo, chip timing, and more! Finisher medals for all participants!

**PACKETS - Every athlete must pick up his or her own race packet. Packet pick-up will require photo proof of identity (driver’s license, passport, etc.).

USA TRIATHLON (USAT) MEMBERSHIP
Eagle in the Sun Triathlon is USAT Sanctioned; USAT rules apply. All athletes must be members of USA Triathlon to compete. If you do not have an annual USA Triathlon membership, you can purchase a one-event membership during registration. The cost is $13 for individuals and $6 per athlete for relay teams.
MINIMUM AGE
Athletes must be 12 years old or older to compete in the individual Triathlon or Aquabike category. Children under 12 may participate as swimmers or runners on relay teams, but they may NOT participate in the cycling portion of the triathlon. The minimum age is 6 years of age as of December 31, 2025.
AGE GROUP / CLYDESDALES / ATHENAS
Men who weigh 220 lbs. or more can compete against other men in their age group and against other men who weigh 220 lbs. or more ("Clydesdales"). Men who weigh under 220 lbs. do not qualify to race in the Clydesdale division.
Women who weigh 165 lbs. or more can compete against other women in their age group and against other women who weigh 165 lbs. or more ("Athenas"). Women who weigh under 165 lbs. do not qualify to race in the Athena division.
During the registration process you will be able to check a box if you wish to be identified as a Athena or Clydesdale athlete.
RELAYS
Relay teams may consist of 2 or 3 persons who together complete the entire triathlon (swim-bike-run). The first team member to sign up creates a team with a team name that other team members can join.
AQUABIKE
Aquabike participants will swim 400 meters then bike 12 miles. Their time will end when they return to transition from the bike portion, and they have the option to walk to the FINISH Inflatable to cross the finish line and get their finisher medal.

SWIM TIME UPDATES
All individual participants and relay teams will be assigned start times based on their swim times. Athletes must update their swim times by September 9th to be included in the first wave of participants. More information forthcoming as race day gets closer.
NOTE
Eagle in the Sun is a USAT Sanctioned event. Based on the USA Triathlon 2025 Multisport Competition Rules, pets, strollers, roller blades, and/or roller skates are not allowed on the race course (swim, bike, run).
