Volunteers will be situated along the route with law enforcement officers to control traffic and promote safety. El Paso Sheriff's Department officers shall control traffic and be posted at high traffic intersections while volunteers will be used primarily to guide participants along the correct course.

Volunteers will body mark athletes with their bib #s on each arm below the shoulder and mark their right leg with their race division, Mark , A (Athena), C (Clydesdale), or Age # (age of athlete). The transition area will be monitored by volunteers to ensure that it remains safe, secure and that the athletes stay planted at their station until its' time to line up.
