The 47th running of the Bayou City Classic 10K, Texas' oldest 10K race, will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 8AM (Hand-Cycle/Pushrim start is 7:50AM). The 5K Fun Run/Walk will start at 8:20AM (Hand-Cycle/Pushrim start is 8:15AM).

 

The event takes place in the heart of downtown Houston (Hermann Square adjacent to City Hall).   This is a family-friendly, all-inclusive event. We invite EVERYONE to participate.  Wheelchair/Pushrim participants are welcomed and encouraged. Full race details at www.bayoucityclassic.org.

 

Proceeds from the Bayou City Classic are donated to the Houston Parks & Recreation Department to improve our city parks and preserve our trees. This non-profit event is organized by the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA), an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote running as a competitive sport and a healthful exercise.   The race has donated over $250,000 for the Parks over the previous eight years!

 

The Bayou City Classic is once again partnering with lululemon.  The first 2000 registrants will receive a high quality lululemon race shirt with the distinctive Bayou City Classic logo designed by local artist and runner April Murphy.

Race shirts will be distributed at Packet Pickup. Preferred sizing available at packet pickup on a first-come-first-serve basis.    All finishers will receive a custom finishers medal.

 

PLEASE NOTE: IN THE EVENT THAT WE RUN OUT OF LULULEMON-BRANDED SHIRTS IN YOUR SIZE, WE WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL NON-LULULEMON TECH SHIRTS AVAILABLE AT PACKET PICKUP. (If your desired size is sold out, select this option during registration.0

Race day, Saturday, March 2nd, at Hermann Square by City Hall. 

  • 10K Start:
    • 7:50AM: Handcycle/Pushrim Division
    • 8:00AM: Run/Walk 10K
  • 5K Start:
    • 8:15 AM: Handcycle/Pushrim Division
    • 8:20AM: Run/Walk 5K

10K/5K Fees

  • Early Bird (extended to 9/21/23!) $35 (Lowest Price - no additional discounts)
  • Early (9/22/23 to 1/15/24): $45
  • Regular (1/16/24 - 3/1/24 ): $50
  • Race Morning: $55. Must be registered by 7:30 AM to be eligible for awards.

*Runners who pick up at the Houston Galleria lululemon store between noon and 5 PM, February 24 or February 25 will receive a ticket upon pickup to redeem 25% discount in store same day (Houston Galleria location only), subject to the exclusions below:

  • May only be used at the Houston Galleria lululemon location
  • Cannot use discount on markdowns or in conjunction with any other discount
  • Limited to only fifteen (15) items per runner/person picking up packets
  • Limited to one ticket per runner/person picking up packets

Our top priority is the well-being of our participants, volunteers, and the members of the communities we serve! We plan to hold this event in person. We are monitoring the situation with COVID-19 in our community carefully and will accommodate any modifications required to hold a safe event. 
If our municipality does not allow large gatherings and this run cannot take place in person, we will switch all to a virtual run option and ensure that you receive your race items, whether it be by a packet pick up option or in the mail.
