The Houston Heights Fun Run

This year's 38th annual Heights Fun Run is returning to its roots and tradition! The Houston Heights Fun Run will be held on Saturday October 7th, 2023! The event started in 1985 and despite everything, has not missed a year!

Hybrid In- Person & Virtual 5K,10K and Kids 1K Race

Event Date: Saturday, October 7th, 2023

Event Location: Marmion Park. 1800 Heights Boulevard. Houston TX 77008

 

Event Information:

Get out to enjoy the summer weather in our wonderful neighborhood and support the Houston Heights Association favorite hybrid event! Since we all need to remain mindful of social distancing and keeping our community safe, the annual Fun Run will be hybrid with an In-Person AND Virtual option!

 

The IN PERSON option will be done the day of the event. This will be done ON race day on the Boulevard with the option of a 10K run, 5K walk or run, or a Kids 1K.

The VIRTUAL option can be done from time of registration up until race day on any trail that you choose! Virtual participants are able to submit their race from time of their registration of event until race day and can be submitted in portions.

 

Race Day Schedule:

Saturday, October 7th, 2023

5:30AM - Last minute packet pick up @ Marmion

6:45AM - Pre-Race Stretching begins @ Starting Line hosted by a Special Guest!

7:00AM - Competitive Events- 10K/5K Run begins @ Starting Line (groups will be formed at Start Line based on mile pace).

7:05AM - 5K Walk begins @ Starting Line

8:00AM -  Kids 1K begins @ Starting Line

8:00AM - After Party Starts @ Marmion with LIVE music !

8:30AM - Awards

 

Race Day Groups (5K/10K Run):

5K/10K Competitive runs will start at the same time. There will be signs at the START for Groups based on estimated Mile Pace (Example:

Group 1: Sub 7:00 min/mile, Group 2: 7:00-8:30 min/ mile, etc. )

Please look for signage. This will be done based on honor system so please choose to your best knowledge to keep everyone around you safe.

 

 

Course Information:

For the In-Person Option, the Boulevard will be closed to passing traffic with patrolling constables.

1K Route: Starts at Marmion Park (18th Street), continues & turns around at 15th Street, and Stops at Marmion

5K Route: Starts at Marmion Park (18th Street), continues & turns around at 5th Street, and Stops at Marmion

10K Route: is the 5K Route TWICE

 

Registration Information:

Register for the distance that's best for you!
10K - $35    ·    5K - $35   ·    Kids 1K - $25

All participants registered by AUGUST 30th will receive an official Heights Fun Run shirt!

Pick Up Date #1 - Thursday, October 5th - Historic Firehouse 107 W 12th Street Houston TX 77008 Timing: 3PM - 9PM

Awards:

Awards will be handed out at the After-Party at Marmion Park starting at 8:30AM. Those who can not attend the award ceremony can pick up up their award at the Fire House on a following date (to be released).

Awards will be given to Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female Finishers of each age group in each competitive race (5K / 10K Run).

 

After Party Information:

Post-Race, we will have a mindfully spaced After-Party at Marmion Park with local community vendors/sponsors- more details to come!

 

We greatly appreciate your patience and support as we pivot one of our favorite neighborhood events to be unlike any other before. We can’t wait to see everyone out and running!

 

Proceeds benefit HHA community projects. The HHA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and proceeds from the Boulevard Blitz go directly into the community for beautification, restoration, maintenance and education.  For more information visit www.houstonheights.org

DISCLAIMER:

The HHA is working incredibly hard and diligently on ensuring this race will happen at the advertised location. However, due to the current status of Special Permits for the City of Houston who are not allowing ANYONE to currently have a permit - location MAY be moved. Rest assured the Fun Run WILL happen but we are modifying and updating constantly. We will give you as much notice as possible IF a race location change does happen. We appreciate your cooperation and patience with us during this challenging and unknown time.
