race re-founders
this race used to be the brighton heights 5k, but it hasn't been run in two decades. so with the re-opening of the davis avenue bridge, we thought it would be neat to restart this mildly iconic race.
so brighton heights residents ben cole and patrick sanders got the ball rolling with the help of the brighton heights citizens federation as we set out to raise money for the neighborhood FREEDGE and hopefully give folks a nice day out that showcases our new pedestrian bridge, the allegheny observatory, and the beautiful riverview park.
li'l swervy run club
so basically, patrick made a logo because he wanted to have a race shirt for the pittsburgh marathon that would be unique so of course he mentioned it to ben and he said "please tell me this is real" and patrick said "yes i am the only member but my wife said 'you can't have a club with one member' and i said 'sure you ca-'" and ben said "can i join?" and patrick said "sure"
everyone is free to come run with us - we start at legion park and have various routes around the neighborhood (yes, including trails). we usually go around 4 miles at an easy pace. right now we run early at around 6:30 or 7am but we're open to adding an after 5pm run if there is interest.
