What is Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare?
Ascension St. John ZooRun presented by CommunityCare is THE family-friendly race in Tulsa. With a 5k, 10k and Ascension St. John 1-mile FunRun, there is a pace for everyone. Now in its 52nd year, ZooRun is the second-oldest running event in Tulsa.
Am I guaranteed a t-shirt?
All runners registered prior to February 25 are guaranteed a t-shirt. Otherwise, all t-shirts and t-shirt sizes are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Can I push my baby in a stroller?
Yes! Strollers are allowed in our 5k and Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run ONLY. Please stage yourself at the back of the pack for the safety of the other runners. You will not need to register your child as long as they stay in the stroller for the duration of the race.
How is the race timed?
The 5k and 10k run will be timed using electronic timing. All runners and walkers in these races will need to wear a timing device to receive a time and finish result. Your bib tag will already be attached to your race bib number. Please attach your race bib number to the FRONT of your shirt. Bib tags are for one time use only.
Are the start lines and finish lines near each other?
No. Starting lines for all races are located near the front entry of the Tulsa Zoo. The 5k and 10k races end near the Helmerich Playground. The Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run finish line is located by the penguin exhibit.
Can I run the Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run with my child and then participate in the 5k?
Yes, but please note that the Ascension St. John 1-mile Fun Run finish line and the 5k start line are located on opposite ends of the zoo. No refunds will be given if you are late to the 5k start line.
Why do the gates close at 8:20 a.m. for parking?
The gates close at 8:20 a.m. on race day for the safety of the runners. The 5k begins at 8:30 a.m. in Mohawk Park, so all cars need to be parked at this time. No exceptions and no refunds will be given due to late arrival. Gates will re- open at 10am. If you need to leave the parking lot before the main gates to Mohawk Park re-open, please utilize the alternate entrance route and park at the west end of the main zoo parking lot. Once the races have started, you will be able to exit out this way. ***Please allow at least 20 extra minutes to your normal drive for race day traffic.
Can my family come to the zoo to cheer me on?
Yes! Until 10 a.m., families can enter the zoo for free to cheer on runners at the finish line!
Is there a raid date? There will not be a scheduled rain date. In case of rain or severe weather, no refunds will be given and all registration and sponsor fees will be considered a tax-deductible donation.
