COURSES
All courses are out and back on paved surfaces with the start and finish at the McEuen Park's Avista Pavilion. These courses take in the scenic beauty of Lake Coeur d'Alene....one of the true gems of North Idaho! The 5K, 10K and half marathon courses are USATF certified. The 10K and half marathon courses take in long sections of the famous North Idaho Centennial Trail which is a wide and well maintained paved path. Click on the course names below to view the routes and elevation profiles in Map My Run. You may also go to the Course Maps page on this website.
The 5K course begins with a 1/3 mile loop inside McEuen Park and then heads south through lovely neighborhood streets and slightly downhill to Sanders Beach. The course continues along Lake Coeur d'Alene and then turns very gradually uphill until the turnaround point at mile 1.7. The course returns along the same course in reverse. There will be water, Gatorade and a toilet at the turnaround. This course difficulty is rated as easy. USATF Course Number ID22003LAB.
The 10K course is approved as a Bloomsday Run second seed qualifier. The 10K course follows the same route as the 5K (except you will not do a 1/3 mile loop in the park) and then continues past the 5K turnaround. After about 100 yards you come to the North Idaho Centennial Trail. Runners will head south on the North Idaho Centennial Trail and follow it all the way to the 3.1 mile turnaround just past Silver Beach. The course gently climbs at mile 2.1 to the Potlatch Hill Rd overpass at mile 2.5 and then is mostly downhill to the turnaround. The course returns along the same route in reverse. Enjoy the sweeping views of Lake Coeur d'Alene between Potlatch Hill Rd and Silver Beach! There is a timing point at the 10K turnaround to give you a 3.1 mile and 6.2 mile split times. You will encounter aid stations with water, Gatorade and a toilet at approximately miles 1.5, 3 and 5. This course difficulty is rated as easy with one moderate hill and is recommended for ages 13 and up. USATF Course Number ID22004LAB.
We call this the Crown Jewel for a reason. About 70% of the course in on the North Idaho Centennial Trail with awesome views of the sparking blue waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene. The half marathon course begins along same route as the 10K and then continues past the 10K turnaround. Runners will continue south on the North Idaho Centennial Trail and follow it all the way to the 6.55 mile turnaround at Osprey Point. There is one gradual but notable climb at Bennett Bay beginning at mile 4.6 up to mile 5.1 and you are rewarded with an aid station at the top. From mile 5.1 to 6.55 the course is mostly downhill. The course returns along the same route in reverse.....so yes, for every uphill there is a downhill. There are timing points on the course to give you 3.1mi, 6.55mi, 10mi and 13.1mi splits. You will encounter aid stations with water, Gatorade and a toilet at approximately miles 1.5, 3, 5, 6.5, 8, 10 and 12. This course difficulty is rated as moderate because of the distance and the hills described above. This course is recommended for ages 18 and up unless you have parent or guardian permission. IMPORTANT: The half marathon course is open from 7:30am until noon. The main half marathon start is 8:00am. You MAY elect the early start at 7:30am ONLY if you will take longer than 3 hours 30 minutes to complete the course. You MUST elect the early start at 7:30am if you are going to take more than 4 hours to complete the course. You must be able to complete the course in a generous 4 hours 30 minutes otherwise you should be entering one of our other distances. USATF Course Number ID22005LAB.
