Description
Don't miss out on the 24th anniversary of this December tradition. Race along the banks of the beautiful Rappahannock River and through historic Fredericksburg on your way to completing one of the most memorable half marathons Virginia has to offer. This year, we are excited to announce that we are partnering with Girls on the Run Piedmont and their SoleMates program. For additional information, see the GOTR/SoleMates section of the race website. A half marathon training program will also be led by the team at Fleet Feet Fredericksburg! Training will begin in September - stay tuned for additional information.
General Race Information
This year marks the 24th running of the Fredericksburg Blue and Gray Half Marathon. Join us on Sunday, December 8th as we run through historic Fredericksburg, VA! All participants earn the same great swag!
* A Long-sleeve technical race shirt for all those registering by Nov 20, 2024. (Please register early - it helps us tremendously!)
* A race finisher's medal
Fredericksburg Area Running Club members automatically receive a $5 discount at checkout. This race is the 12th and final race in the 2024 FARC Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Race Series.
Dogs and strollers are not permitted. Registration is online only. There is a 3 1/2 hour time limit to complete the Half Marathon.

Friday, December 6th from 4-6pm at Academy Sports + Outdoors, 1320 Carl D. Silver Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Saturday, December 7th from 1-3pm at Dick's Sporting Goods, 137 Spotsylvania Mall Drive, Unit 290, Fredericksburg, VA.
Race morning starting at 6:30am at Old Mill Park, 2201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA.
Girls on the Run - SoleMates
Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion. SoleMates is a community made up of passionate people raising money for Girls on the Run. Whether counting miles on the trail, laps in a pool, reps in the weight room, or downward dogs in the studio, all SoleMates share a common desire to be champions for girls. SoleMates work to complete fitness goals such as running, bicycling, or other events while raising critical funds to ensure that Girls on the Run Piedmont can continue to create a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential. Awards + Course Records
Overall Top 3 Men and Women - Cash $150, $75, $50
Masters - Top Male and Female - Cash $50
Age Groups - 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 - Top 3 Men and Women in each age group; 70 & Over: Top 1 Male and Female
Course Record Bonuses - $100 - for first male finishing faster than 1:10:44 and first female finishing faster than 1:22:35.
Overall and Masters awards are based on Gun Time and age group awards will be based on Chip Time.
Deferral & Cancellation Policy
We want to be up front about our cancellation and refund policy so you know ahead of time. We do not offer refunds or deferrals for any reason. If you are unable to run the in-person Half Marathon, you can request via email to be moved to the Virtual Half Marathon and we will ship your race packet to you. We do not offer bib transfers.
Course and Aid Station Information
USATF Certified Course
The course starts and ends at Old Mill Park along the banks of the Rappahannock River. The race is mostly run on a wide paved path through the residential area of downtown Fredericksburg. The course is mostly flat except for one rather long, but thoroughly enjoyable uphill section beginning at mile 5 and one downhill section at mile 9.
Porta Potties are available at miles: 2.5, 3.0, 7.5, 10.5, 11.8
Aid stations are located at miles: 2.5, 4,4. 6.4, 8.8, 10.5, 11.8
Cups of water and/or Gatorade will be available at Aid Stations.
This event is directed by an RRCA Certified Race Director.
