Description
Sign up for a race (5K run/walk or Fun Run OR cycle/bike), pick a day and time to race between June 19-27, train, then go for it! This race is designed to be a fun fundraiser, not a competition. Therefore, no need to post your times or day you ran. You can spread your "run" out over a few days or get it done all at one time.
IF YOU WANT TO RUN THIS TOGETHER IN A GROUP - We will be holding an event at Life Time Gainesville on June 26 at 8am! We will have both the 5k and the Fun Run, as well as the cycle studio rocking the orange for Ryland. If you are cycling in the club, you must be a member AND you must have a bike reserved! There will be cycle classes all week to support Ryland and on the 26th of June, so you will have many opportunities to reserve a bike.
Kudos goes out to the most creative and liked social media post. Tag all posts with #raceforryland. This will serve as your proof of completion.
Registrations received after May 27 will not be guaranteed a shirt. There is an option for donation only, for those that wish to help, but not run or walk. Please help spread the word about the race and the donation only opportunity. If you'd like to make a donation only, please click on the Donate tab at the top of this page. Also, you will be given the option to make a donation in addition to your registration fee as part of the registration process.
WHY WE RACE:
We race for Ryland Harris, an amazing young man who was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 16. Now 17, Ryland has bravely fought this terrible disease for over a year with the amazing love and support of his family, friends, and a growing community of allies around the world. Known for his big heart, exuberant positive energy, and constant smile, Ryland’s story of strength has touched and inspired countless people. The Race for Ryland is your chance to join the fight and show your love and continued support for Ryland and his family by racing, walking, or simply donating.
Ryland is currently a Junior at Brentsville District High School where he competes as a three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball. When not on the athletic field or wrestling mat, Ryland commits his time supporting the growing agriculture program at BDHS where he co-hosts the popular podcast, Tiger Turf Talk. Wherever he is, and even with his ongoing battle, Ryland makes it a priority to ensure those around him are in good spirits and have a smile on their face. Simply put, Ry’s just one of those kids everyone loves to be around.
