Did you know?
The event's roots stretch back to 1988 when Don Lucy, who grew up at Presbyterian Homes, now known as HumanKind, created the race as a way to give back and help raise funds and awareness for individuals, children, and families across Virginia. What started as a simple act of generosity has grown into one of Lynchburg's most anticipated holiday traditions, attracting thousands of participants and supporters each year.

Virtual Race - A Twist on Tradition
Unable to join us in-person Thanksgiving morning? Our virtual race option lets you trot from anywhere - your Lynchburg Turkey Trot, your way!
- Register for the virtual Lynchburg Turkey Trot and recruit family/friends/co-workers/neighbors to participate alongside you.
- Pick up your event gear at one of our packet pickups on November 20th or November 25th at the HumanKind Campus, or have your event gear mailed straight to your door with our shipping option.
- Select a date from November 21st - November 29th and take on your Lynchburg Turkey Trot from anywhere! Your treadmill, local park, your neighborhood, or even from another state! Don't forget, you can use our race app to keep track of your distance and finish time.
- After completing your Lynchburg Turkey Trot, upload your results into the race app and celebrate!
- Share your experience with us! Wherever you are for your chosen “race day” -- make it great and share your experience with us through the app and tagging your photos!
