Richmond's Favorite Valentine's Day Tradition
Celebrate Valentine’s weekend at the RRRC Sweetheart 8K, which has been selected as the 2026 RRCA 8k National Championship.
Run or walk a scenic five mile route through The Grove, Walton Park, and the historic Midlothian Coal Mine Park. The race starts and finishes at The Urban Farmhouse at The Millworks in Midlothian.
There will also be a raffle for all registered runners and a Team Costume Contest, so bring some Valentine’s Day spirit.
Couples Challenge
Run the Sweetheart 8K with your partner, a friend, or your favorite running buddy.
When you register, choose “Yes” for the question asking if you want to join a Couple, then follow the steps to create your pair. Your partner can register in the same transaction or separately, as long as they know the couple name.
Awards include:
- Top couple finisher in the in person race
- Best couple photo at the finish, with a gift certificate to Lucky Road Run Shop
Can’t Join Us In Person
Run your 8K wherever you like and submit your results online anytime between February 13 and 16.

RIchmond Richmond Road Runners Club's mission is to support running and healthy lifestyles in the Richmond Region. We do this by sponsoring races in our area, helping other organizations put on races, coaching training teams, supporting kids' running programs, supporting a variety of group runs and awarding academic scholarships to college-bound runner athletes.
RRRC is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that sponsors nearly 20 races each year with distances ranging from the track to half marathon. Club members are runners or those looking to become runners, who are of all paces, ages and shapes. With approximately 2,500 members, RRRC is one of the largest running clubs in the United States.
EVENT RULES
The minimum age to participate in the Sweetheart 8k is 5 years old on or before race day.
Strollers, baby joggers, animals, bicycles, inline or roller skates, and skateboards are not allowed.
Headphones are discouraged for safety
Follow all instructions from course volunteers and police
One water stop on the course with a hands free and cup free setup; bring your own bottle or cup
CANCELLATION POLICY
All entry fees and processing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. NO EXCEPTIONS. Registrations CANNOT be deferred to the next year. Registrations can only be transferred to another runner via the wait list after the race has sold out. If we catch you transferring a bib to another runner without permission, you will be banned. In the event of postponements, cancellation, format update, event updates, and/or if you are unable to participate for any reason there will be no refunds, transfers (to another race or person), and/or deferrals.
