2022 Race Postponed to 2023 Due to Weather

New Date: Winter 2023

Due to icy conditions and a poor weather forecast for the next week, this race has been cancelled for 2022. All registrants will be automatically deferred to 2023; however, they also have the option to transfer to another 5K or 10K of equal or lesser value in 2022 by emailing ute@racevermont.com.

Here Are Your Options:

We will transfer your registration and t-shirt (if pre-ordered) to the new event date once it is set, and look forward to having you join us. Thanks for your patience!

If you prefer to transfer to another 5K or 10K of equal or lesser value in 2022, please email ute@racevermont.com with your choice of race and distance. She will transfer you and send a confirmation.

You understand that events are expensive, even when cancelled, and you want us to keep your registration fees to help cover our costs. We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

Description

The Sugarhouse Snowshoe 5K/10K is back this year! This race appeals to competitive snowshoe runners as well as relaxed fitness walkers. You'll be treated to a beautiful run through the sugar grove of Shelburne Sugarworks. If mother nature cooperates, this will be a snowshoe race. Otherwise, it will be a 5K run/walk or 10K run. You'll start and finish at Shelburne Sugarworks where there could be some sugaring in the works (depending on Mother Nature).

Just prior to the race, we will be offering a short (200-300 yard) race for kids. This portion of the race will be free. No awards or shirts will be involved with this "fun run" snowshoe event.

Race t-shirts

T-shirts are available for purchase during registration. These super soft cotton poly blend shirts are available in men's and women's sizing. Men's shirts run true to size. Women's shirts are more fitted. The price is $15 and may be purchased through February 6, or as long as quantities are available.

Refund Policy

Should this race get cancelled due to extreme weather or by order of the governor or other government official, you will have the option to either defer your registration to next year's Sugarhouse Snowshoe 5K/10K or transfer to another Racevermont.com race of equal or lesser value. We do not offer refunds for unattended races regardless of who cancels the race, and transfers/deferrals will only be offered in the event that this race is cancelled.

Parking

Parking is on a first come first served basis at Shelburne Sugarworks. Overflow parking is available at the Buccaneers Practice field just east on Shelburne Hinesburg Road. Please be extremely cautious if walking on the road.

General Race Rules

It is every racer’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with our Racer Rules. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach to us at info@racevermont.com.

  • Parking may be offsite for an event. We recommend you bring a backpack to carry your personal belongings.   Racevermont.com is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • Please be on time and arrive no later than 10 minutes before the close of registration.
  • If you decide to use a music device or cell phone while running, please keep your volume low enough that you can hear traffic coming your way and our volunteers and/or timing team should they need to get your attention.
  • Racevermont.com has no objection to and does not discourage the safe and prudent use of strollers or baby joggers during some of our races. They are not allowed in any race that uses the Ti Path as the path is relatively narrow and it may be difficult to for racers to get by a stroller if there are runners going in both directions. Stroller or baby joggers or similar devices should be started in the back of the runners and walkers if they are allowed.
  • Racers must be courteous to other racers, volunteers, race officials, spectators at ALL times. Unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification. In extreme cases, you will be banned from all future Racevermont.com races.
  • You will be running against traffic where instructed.
  • Do not run more than 2 abreast. Running down the middle of the road (or the middle of either lane) is strictly forbidden as the roads continue to be open to traffic.
  • All athletes must clearly display their bib #’s on the front of their body (not on the leg) throughout the race. Do not crumple your bib as this could cause damage to your timing chip which may result in the timing system missing you when you cross the start or finish line.
  • Race numbers MUST BE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES, BUT ESPECIALLY WHEN APPROACHING THE FINISH LINE.
  • NO BANDITS ALLOWED!

Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female overall will receive a prize. These winners will be exempt from age group awards.

1st place in each 5-year age group will win an "Age Group Winner" Racevermont.com pint glass.

Pre or Post Race Raffle

Racevermont.com offers a raffle of prizes donated by our sponsors at every race. Winners of this raffle will be drawn after the awards ceremony from raffle tickets given out at the refreshments table. You must be present to win.
