4 Road/Trail Crossing helprs are needed to keep runners, burros, vehicles, cyclists, and hikers safely moving through shared intersections or trail crossings. These volunteers act as the eyes and voice of the race at key points.

Check In/Aid Stations High Priority

Details

We need 8 volunteers to man our check-in / aid stations. Volunteers will note race bib numbers and relay those numbers back to the burro home base and hand out refreshments. These stations will be set up on the trail so volunteers need to be able to walk out on the trail.

Location

There will be 1 check in/aid station on the 6 mile and 2 check ins/on the 10 mile.

Photographers High Priority

We need several volunteer photographers to capture the day for our racers.

Location

Photographers need to be able to walk out to the trails to take photos. You may ride a bike if needed.

Race Sweeper Medium Priority

Details

A race sweeper is one of the most important behind‑the‑scenes safety roles in any trail or burro race. They’re the last people on the course, making sure every participant—and every burro—gets through safely and that the course is fully cleared. This can also be done while riding your horse/mule/donkey on the beautiful trails.

Details

A race course clean‑up volunteer is the crew that restores the course to its original condition after the event. This is picking up all the race markers and manure. They’re essential for keeping trails, roads, and public spaces respected—especially for burro races where we want to leave zero trace.

Location

This is needed on the race track and on the trails. Tools will be provided for this task.
