COURSE & SAFETY OPERATIONS

COURSE SET UP

Details

2 people working together as a team
Shift: 6:00–7:00 am and 9:15–9:45 am

Duties:
- Attend brief training the week prior
- Drive the course to place directional signs
- Deliver water stop supplies
- After the race, remove signs and return them to staging aging.

Notes: Requires lifting signs, tables, and water jugs. Volunteers may still run/walk the event.

SAFETY MONITORS

At least 30 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 6:30–9:30 am

Duties:
- Stand along the course to direct participants and to cheer them along
- Wear provided yellow vest and use orange flags through the intersections
- Interact with limited vehicle traffic

Notes: Great for volunteers who enjoy cheering and visibility. Need to stay on course from 7:10 am until the last walker passes by.

BIKE LEAD

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 7:00–9:30 am

Duties:
- Ride the course pre-race to confirm monitors are in place
- Lead the front runner to ensure correct route is followed
- Sweep the course behind the last walker and notify monitors when they may leave their posts.

Notes: Must have a bike available.

WATER STOP

At least 8 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 7:15–9:00 am

Duties:
- Set up the water station, fill cups of water, cheer on participants
- Hand out water to runners and walkers
- Clean up cups and trash within 200 ft of water stop.

Notes: Light lifting; high energy, social role. All supplies delivered by Set-Up Team)

SITE & EVENT OPERATIONS

SITE SETUP

At least 10 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 5:45–7:00 am

Duties:
- Unload equipment trailer and move supplies to the correct locations.
- Set up tables, tents, signage and canopy tents in the staging area.
- Set up Stage and stairs.

Notes: Mechanically inclined. Requires lifting and agility.

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 5:45–7:00 am

Duties:
- Greet volunteers, verify the job assigned.
- Make sure waivers are signed.
- Distribute vests and flags
- Direct volunteers to their stations at specific times

Notes: Be available to be assigned last minute tasks as needed

BAG DROP

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Shift: 6:00 - 10:00 am

Duties:
- Manage participant bags
- Ensure orderly pickup after the race

BIKE STATION

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Shift: 6:00 - 10:00 am

Duties:
- Oversee bike parking area
- Assist participants arriving by bike

SITE RUNNERS / LEADS

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 6:00 -10:30 am

Duties:
- Move between stations delivering supplies as needed
- Support Race Directors as needed
- Troubleshoot needs quickly
- Be available to be assigned last minute tasks as needed

STAGE CREW

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: Morning

Duties:
- Assist with start/finish staging program
- Manage equipment, signage, and flow
- Manage timing of stage details

PARKING LOT

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 5:45 - 7:00 am

Duties:
- Direct vehicles to parking within staging area
- Help maintain safe flow around the event area

NOTES: Need to be able to use Walkie-Talkie

REFRESHMENT TENT

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: Morning

Duties:
- Assist runners to water jugs for bottle refills
- Set up and distribute post race refreshments
- Keep area stocked and tidy

NOTES: Need to lift 20-gallon water jugs

FINISH LINE

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: 7:30 - 9:30 am

Duties:
- Work as safety monitor at start of race
- Hand out medals
- Manage finish line flow
- Cheer participants across the line
- Work with Stage Manager to assist at Awards Ceremony

CLEAN UP

At least 8 more volunteers needed.

Details

Shift: Post race

Duties:
- Break down tables, tents, signage
- Collect trash and recycling
- Restore the site to pre-event condition

Notes: Mechanically inclined. Requires lifting and agility.

REGISTRATION TEAM

FRIDAY PACKET PICKUP

At least 10 more volunteers needed.

11:00 am - 4:15 pm

Duties:
- Check In: 4 volunteers
- Shirts: 4 volunteers
- Guides: 2 volunteers (direct flow, answer questions)

SATURDAY MORNING CHECK-IN

5:30 - 8:00 am

Duties:
- Check In: 4 volunteers
- Shirts: 4 volunteers
- Guides: 2 volunteers

Notes: Need to be flexible after Registration closes unless running or walking.
