Expect to be in position at 7:45am. If you need direction or help prior to being in position, please arrive by 7:30am.

Direct runners to turn at Tom Reeve to Ben Scott just after the start of the race. As runners are on their way back to the finish, you will direct them back onto the asphalt/pavement, turning off Greenbelt/Ben Scott and onto Tom Reeve.

You will be the first and last volunteer group seen by the runners before the finish.

Location

Corner of Ben Scott & Tom Reeve. You are standing IN THE ROAD, near the Guard Rail/Poles. There may be orange cones here as well.

Meet at 5:30 am Saturday morning to help set-up tables, tents, and registration. (Volunteer will still be able to run the race if only signing up for this task, and not others.)

Details

You are positioned on residential streets. You can park nearby on the road to have access to your car after all 10K runners pass you. Only 10K runners will be on this portion of the course.

If you see a 5K bib, direct them to turn around and go back to the Greenbelt, towards Laura's Park.

Runners will have just climbed the Nixon hill and look for encouragement.

You will direct runners to turn LEFT onto Ferndale towards Hays Mill Rd.

Once you see the SWEEPER, or LAST WALKER pass by, you may be done with your volunteering.

We do not anticipate this volunteer slot lasting longer than 45 minutes.

I am interested in helping in any aspect needed in the days leading up to the race.

These days would be March 3-7th.

Tasks would include stuffing packet pick up bags with shirts, freebie items and other prep tasks needed.

Pointer at Greenbelt Turn from Ben Scott into the Woods

Details

Direct runners to turn off Ben Scott Curve to the Greenbelt.

You will see runners twice. Once turning INTO the greenbelt off Ben Scott and again near the end of the race as they come back down the greenbelt and turn onto BenScott/Greenbelt path.

You should expect to be at this position for the majority of the race. This volunteer position could last up to two (2) hours if there are walkers on the 10K course. You are welcome to park your car on the street near your volunteer position.

Location

You are at the City Schools area near the Stadium parking. You are at the turn INTO the greenbelt/wooded area.

Pointer 5k & 10k Split

Details

Direct the 10k runners to turn onto Nixon Lane, off of the Greenbelt and 5K runners to continue down Greenbelt towards Laura's Park.

Only 5K runners will turn around and come back past you. You will direct them to continue straight again, on their way back to the Start/Finish.

Anticipate volunteering here for at minimum of one (1) hour.

Nixon St & Greenbelt (parking options are very limited here. Nixon is a residential street and you'd have to park at end of official street and walk down the path to greenbelt).

Pointer at Ferndale & Hays Mill Rd

Details

Direct runners from Ferndale Rd to turn onto Hays Mills Rd. This should only be 10K runners/walkers at this point.

This is a residential street, so parking may be limited.

You will only see runners/walkers one time as they pass you to turn. Please stay at position until last runner/walker of the 10k passes you. Once you see a sweeper, or last runner/walker, you may leave your volunteer position.

Anticipate your volunteer position lasting for at minimum of an hour.

Pointer Hays Mill Rd & Haygood, then to Jewell St

Direct 10K runners from Hays Mill Rd to turn onto Haygood Place. Haygood dead ends and turns onto Jewell St. Runners follow to Maple St.

Volunteer will tell them to "turn and follow to Maple St".

Location

Standing on sidewalk on Hays Mill Rd & Haygood Pl. This is a busy street.

Pointer Jewell St & Maple St

Details

Direct 10K Runners from Jewell St to cross over Maple St and left onto Greenbelt/Sidewalk.

Maple St is busy. There will be police officer here.

From here all runners simply follow the greenbelt. Once last runner passes, you can be relieved of your position. Anticipate at minimum of one hour.

Standing at Jewell St. Can park anywhere near by to be close to your car. Maple Street is busy. Be alert.

Race Course Aid Station-City Station

Details

Help fill and pass out water cups to runners. Located at the City Station/Greenbelt location, next to CVS.

This aid station is on the grass beside the greenbelt and set up with tables and a tent.

Anticipate volunteering here for at least 1.5-2 hours. Once last runner passes, and sweeper, it is ok to dismantle and leave.

Eddie Duffey and the City Station Fitness crew will also be helping here.

Race Course Aid Station-Hays Mill (near 5K turnaround)

Details

Help fill and pass out water cups to runner. Located at the Hays Mill/Greenbelt area.

The 5K turnaround is near here.
10K runners will be passing through here as well.

Expect to man this position for the entire duration of the race. It is possible to be here for two (2-2.5) hours. Ok to dismantle once the last 10K runner/walker or sweeper passes.

Parking is limited here however, you may be able to park at Laura's Park or near entrance of Hays Mill Overlook subdivision.

There is a lot of back and forth needed at the start/finish. This volunteer position is for "whatever is needed" by the timer or race management crew. We will need an eager person who can pop back and forth to help as things pop up.

This volunteer(s) would make sure to stay behind the last 5K participant. It will be difficult to confirm which participant is the last until "5K" participant until the 5K/10K split... so staying behind ALL runners is a good plan UNTIL you reach the split, then you would follow the 5K route.

The 5K route is an "out and back", so they turn around after they pass through, and under the bridge past Laura's Park, on Hays Mill Greenbelt, across from Hays Mill Overlook subdivision.

If you have a golf cart and are willing to bring it, this would be a WONDERFUL option to allow us to utilize the golf care before the race as well, if and when needed. (this is extra and would be communicated separately, if you're willing but not required for this volunteer position.)

General POST RACE Breakdown & Cleanup Medium Priority

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Priority will be for helpers to be hands and feet moving any items to storage/cars and to breakdown awards ceremony location.

This volunteer slot will be one of the last people to leave after the event.

Volunteer can still run the race while volunteering for this slot.
