Details

Course Marshals will volunteer along our race course to direct & re-route cars. Volunteers must be able to stand for two hours., and will volunteer rain or shine. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, morning coffee, afternoon pizza, and important safety instructions. There will be two safety training options for this role. One on 4/2 at 7:00pm at the Oak Park Main Library Veteran's Room and on virtual on 4/23 at 7:00pm. Due to the one start time for the 5K, course marshals cannot also run the race this year. Finish Line Crew (Sun, Apr 6)

Details

Finish line volunteers set up cups, pour water and sports drink, hand out food, youth mile ribbons, and cheer on the participants. The finish line is located outside the high school. Finish line volunteering is ideal for our younger volunteers and groups of volunteers. Finish line volunteering is 8:15 am to 10:15 am. For questions, contact us at oprc@oprc.net.

Hang "No Parking" Signs (Fri 4/4)

Details

Race Morning Packet Pick Up (Sun, Apr 6)

Details

Race Day Packet pick up volunteers help participants check in and receive their bib and shirt. Packet pick up volunteers must have a smart phone and be willing to download the RaceDay CheckIn App. Volunteers will allow their phone to scan QR codes so that they can scan in the participants. Race day packet pick up is not an ideal position for people who also want to run or walk the 5K. Packet pick up is on race day from 6:45 am to 10:15 am. For questions, contact us at oprc@oprc.net.

Gear Check

Details

Gear check volunteers assist participants with checking in their gear before the races and then retrieving their gear after the races. Gear check volunteers are asked to stay with gear check for the duration of the events, therefore, it is not an ideal role for someone who is also running or walking the 5K. Clean Up Crew (Sun, Apr 6)

Details

Clean up volunteers stay after the races have finished and help with taking down and cleaning up the race. Clean up volunteering is ideal for people who also want to run or walk the 5K. Clean up is 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. For questions, contact us at oprc@oprc.net.

Junior Dash (Sun, Apr 6)

Junior Dash volunteers will walk the kids to their start corral, cheer them on, then hand out goody bags & medals. We encourage Junior dash volunteers to sign up for another slot prior such as course marshal and then report to the start line area by 9:45 am. Junior Dash volunteering is 9:15 am to 10:15 am. Water Station On Course (Sun, Apr 6)

Details

Water station volunteers set up cups, pour water, hand out cups, and cheer on the participants. There is one water station on the 5K course. Water Station volunteers wear a Good Life Race reflective vest. Water station volunteers must check in at the high school, then walk, bike, or drive to Field Park. Water station volunteering is ideal for our younger volunteers and groups of volunteers. Water Station volunteering is 8:00 am to 10:00 am. For questions, contact us at oprc@oprc.net.

Lead Bicycles (Sun, Apr 6)

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Lead bicycles will help the fastest runners navigate the 5K and Youth Mile courses. Lead bicycle volunteers must provide their own bike and helmet. They must also be OPRC members. Lead Bicycles will start at 8:30 am and 9:00 am. For questions, contact us at oprc@oprc.net.

Ask Me! Volunteer

Details

Ask Me! Volunteers hold up the "Ask Me" sign and assist participants, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and spectators in finding key volunteers or locations of the race day activities. This is a fun job but knowledge of the race setup, key volunteers and the schedule is crucial.
Various slots available inside and outside. Some slots allow the volunteer to run in the 5 K.

Solutions Table

Volunteers will assist race participants with any problems they may encounter especially as it relates to race registration. Other troubleshooting and solutions may also be addressed and referred to the correct key volunteer or race director

These volunteers will be responsible for checking volunteers in, giving them their T-shirts, any role specific items, and tell volunteers where they need to report to for their role.
