We need volunteers to pickup race bags at the race bag team leader's house in Frederick and transport them to Charm City Run/If The Shoe Fits (467 W. Patrick St) for packet pickup. A larger vehicle would be a plus (SUV, etc).

Direct Parking

Details

Direct arriving sponsors, vendors, volunteers and runners to the appropriate parking areas at FCC, and will ensure that volunteers, vendors, sponsors who park to temporarily drop off food or other equipment will promptly move their vehicle to other designated parking areas.

Arrive at FCC Student Center at 6:45am to get materials and intro from Course Operations Lead. Then meet FCC Course Marshals at :00am at Student Center, distribute assignments and direct them into position. The Fun Run starts at 7:30, so those course marshals need to be in place first.

Help to set up the expo area with tables and chairs. Welcome exhibitors to the race site (sponsors, vendors, nonprofits). Direct them to assigned table/position and see that they have what they need. Check in on them periodically. If there are leftover shirts, offer them to sponsors once runner check-in is complete.

Clover Hill Volunteer Coordinator and Course Operations Lead

Meet up with volunteer course marshals and other Clover Hill volunteers at the intersection of Autumn Leaf and Claiborne. Check them in and provide them with volunteer shirts. Connect the water stop volunteers to the water stop captain. Give instructions to the Clover Hill course marshals and direct them into position. Then - keep an eye on the Clover Hill section of the race, watching for runners in distress, traffic issues, etc.

Meet up with the water distribution team, set out bottled water and ice at the finish line and see that the team distributes medals to the kids after the Fun Run, and bottled water/ice towels to all the runners at the finish line.

Purchase 12 16-lb bags of ice (or equivalent quantity) and bring to start/finish line by 7am to cool down the finish-line water bottles.

Staff Random Prize Table

We will be drawing bib numbers for the random prizes during the race and the runners will pick up their prizes after they finish the race. This volunteer will write the winning bib numbers on the prepared poster and distribute the prizes to the winners.

Sing the National Anthem at the Start Line (in front of FCC Student Center) a couple of minutes before 8:00am.

Back-of-the-Pack Ambassador

Details

Help to ensure that the back of the pack has a great experience and the slower walkers are treated just as well as the front-runners.

Keep track of the back of the back participants. Alert the water stop volunteers and finish line crew when the last participant comes through.
