Details

As runners come over the hill from city beach, direct them to turn right onto Dakota. When runners come back, they turn right on Skyles to go back over the hill to city beach. Direct road bikers to turn left onto Dakota on the way out, and right onto Skyles when they come back.

5k Course Marshal - Bike path intersection by train bridge.

Stand at the triangle area of the bike path in between the train bridge and boat parking lot. Runners are turning left to go under the train bridge.

5k Course Marshal - Bike Path and train yard entrance

Stand where the bike path crosses the entrance to the bike path near Railway St and Miles Ave. Runners cross the entrance and continue on the path towards the viaduct.

Aid Station & 5k / 8Mile / Road Bike Course Marshal - LaBrie and Wisconsin High Priority

Details

Stand at the intersection of LaBrie and Wisconsin. Direct 5k, 8mile, and road bikers. Traffic on Wisconsin will need to be stopped for the 8 mile runners to cross over from the bike path onto LaBrie, and for road bikers to enter into the traffic on Wisconsin. You will have to be assertive. Additionally, 5k runners will be coming from the south, and turning left onto LaBrie. Man the aid station with water and Heed.

5k / Road Bike Course Marshal - Dakota and LaBrie

Direct runners and bikers at the intersection of Dakota and LaBrie. Runners turn left onto Dakota, and Bikers turn right onto LaBrie on the way out, and left onto Dakota on the way in.

5k Sweep

Details

Follow behind the last 5k runner/walker and let course marshal volunteers know they are finished. For the morning 5k sweep, the volunteers at LaBrie & Wisconsin, LaBrie & Dakota, and Dakota & Skyles stay after the last 5k runner to help direct bikers. In the afternoon 5k sweep, all volunteers are finished.

Swift Creek

Swift Creek Aid Station and support

This volunteer will manage the aid station at Swift Creek Trailhead where the bike transition is and make sure there is water, Heed and energy gel available for the racers. You will also be responsible for helping to manage the flow of the transition area.

Mountain Bike Sweep

Follow along behind the last mountain biker, pick up directional arrows, and tell volunteers they can leave. This is at Swift Creek Trail head, and should be done on a mountain bike.

Swift Creek Course Marking

Details

Set up the course directional signs along the trail at Swift Creek for the mountain bike portion of the race. The best way to do this is via mountain bike. To be completed the morning of the race by 9am. We will provide you with signs and materials. You will need a backpack and knowledge of the trail.

Traffic Control at Swift Creek

Details

This volunteer must not be shy! You will need to stand at the entrance of Swift Creek and help direct athletes as well as manage traffic. Cars are not allowed to park in the Swift Creek lot during the event.

City Beach Area

This person will do a lot of talking! Announce participants as they cross transition areas and the finish line. Talk about past course records, announce awards, play music and keep the crowd informed.

City Beach Aid Station

This volunteer will manage the aid station at City Beach, handing out water, Heed and energy food. If of age, you may be asked to pour beer as well.

This volunteer is in a motor boat or kayak on Whitefish lake monitoring the Kayak leg between City Beach and Houston Point and providing assistance to kayakers if needed.

Water Support for Canoe Leg

This volunteer is in a kayak monitoring the Canoe leg from City Beach up and down Whitefish River to the culverts under 93, providing assistance as needed.

8 Mile Course Marshal

Bike Path Aid Station

This volunteer will manage the aid station at the entrance to the bike path on East Lakeshore Drive, handing out water and Heed.

8 Mile Run Course Marshal at Big Mountain Rd

Details

Stand at the bottom of Big Mountain Rd. where the flashing light is. Runners will be on the bike path running towards town. Stop traffic as needed.

8 mile sweep

July 11, 2021

Details

Follow behind the last 8 mile runners either on bike or in a car. Let course marshals at the aid station on the bike path and at Big Mountain Rd know they are finished. Transport the bike path aid station supplies to the LaBrie aid station, and check in with the timer at city beach when the last runner is in.

Road Bike

Road Bike Course Marshal - End of Delrey Road

Stand at the end of Delrey Road and turn bikers around to head back to Swift Creek.

Road Bike Sweep

Details

Follow behind the last road biker to leave City Beach to the end of Del Ray Rd and back to Swift Creek. Wait there while the Mountain Bike Leg is done, and then follow the road biker back to City Beach. If possible, this person would have a truck to pickup the 'Runner on the Road' signs.
