Rest Stop Set-up and Management High Priority

November 2, 2024

Details

A team of volunteers to pick up supplies at the Start/Finish located at the First United Methodist Church 304 W 2nd Street. and go to their assigned rest stop. There the team will set-up a tent, table and chairs and ready beverages. Teams are encouraged to decorate their rest stop, bring music to play and to have fun while encouraging walkers to keep going. Great opportunity for companies, civic groups and youth groups!

Photographers High Priority

Details

Photographers are needed at the Start/Finish Line and along the route. Will provide United Way with photos after the walk.

Walker Check-in High Priority

November 2, 2024

Details

Check in walkers before the event as they arrive at the Start/Finish.

Route Patrol Captain High Priority

November 2, 2024

Details

To be lead contact for route safety. Will help to coordinate SAG (support and gear) Vehicles, HAM Operators, and bike patrol volunteers.

Route Markers High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Two teams to place route markers along the routes.

Bike Patrol Medium Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Bike Patrol will cycle along assigned section of route to make sure walkers are safe, motivated and if necessary, contact emergency services.

SAG (Support and Gear) Vehicles High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Volunteers in their own vehicles will follow along the route supporting walkers with encouragement and if needed, transport a walker to the nearest rest stop or to the Start/Finish location if the walker cannot make it on their own.

HAM Operators aka Short Wave Radio Operators High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Radio operators will be stationed at the Start/Finish Line, at rest stops and patrol along the route. Operators may be assigned a location to help walkers navigate the route safely.

Walker Check-Back High Priority

November 2, 2024

Details

Walkers will check back in with Volunteers so we can be assured all participants made it back to the Start/Finish line.

Help organize food location, maintaining food levels, cleanliness and organization.

Food Captain High Priority

Details

Organize and manage the food area volunteers, ensuring to maintain appropriate level of food is being offered. Will work closely with the event organizer.
