What To Do: 5K and Half Marathon runners are coming down Front St. from Princess St. toward you and will turn left on Market and continue up Market. Traffic should be stopped with an officer here and you just need to cheer on runners directing them to run straight across Front St and turn left up Market St. When they return, you will want to direct them into the coned Southbound lane of N. Front St. (see diagram). There should be no cars in this lane and the officer should stop traffic for runners.

What To Do: Runners will be coming toward you from Front St. on Market St. Cheer them on and keep them going straight in their coned lane up Market St. They should be on the inside lane near the median and Half runners will be turning AROUND the planted median between 2nd and 3rd and back down Market Street toward the waterfront. 5K runners keep straight up to 5th St.

What To Do: All runners are running alongside the Front St. Bridge (by CFCC Union Station) in the Northbound lane heading North (see diagram). Once they pass the bridge you want to have them step onto Front St and continue on the road. *Please remind them to STEP carefully into the road by saying "Watch Your Step."

You're about mile 2.3 where 5K runners are turning left onto Cowan. 10K and Half Marathon runners are continuing straight on N. Front St. Runners in the 5K will pass you between 7:10am - 8:15am. Runners in the 10K and Half Marathon will pass you between 8-8:30am. You will see runners for only 30 minutes or so each time and if there are really slow walkers in the 5K, it's possible you will have 5K walkers turning still when your front runners in the Half Marathon need to go straight.

What To Do: Runners are in the Northbound lane heading North (see diagram). You want to encourage them and keep them to stay in their coned lane. Direct the 5K runners to turn left and stay to their right into a coned shoulder lane. Direct the 10K and Half Marathon runners to continue straight. You also want to make sure there are no cars trying to cross at this intersection on Cowan St. in front of runners. As it slows down or there are big gaps in runners, cars can cross but runners shouldn't have to stop for cars.

You're about mile 2.4 for the 5K only. Runners will pass you around 7:15am. You will see runners for only 35 minutes or so.

What To Do: Runners are in a coned lane heading West down Cowan St. (see diagram). Keep them in the coned lane and yell out "right turn" as they turn onto Nutt St. Runners should be staying to their right. *10K and Half Marathon runners will be down at the bottom of Cowan getting ready to start their race. Keep them outside the coned lane.*

Nutt St. & Entrance to Riverwalk High Priority

You're about mile 2.7 for the 5K only. Runners will pass you around 7:15am. You will see runners for about 50 minutes.

What To Do: Runners should be staying to their right as they head down Nutt St. You'll need to direct them onto the Riverwalk (see diagram). You can tell them "they're almost there", "great job" and encourage them to the finish line.

What To Expect: THIS IS A KEY SPOT!

You'll have 10K and Half Marathon runners passing you. The front runner should be to you around 8:10am and the back runner should be past your position around 11:00am. This is an important spot because you need to make sure 10K runners come off of the bridge exit ramp and turn right onto Front St. and Half Marathon runners turn left onto Front St. (towards Greenfield Lake). Half Marathon runners will come back toward you after they run around Greenfield Lake. Don't leave until the "sweeper" is past you a 2nd time.

What To Do: Just cheer on and direct runners in the right direction.

S. Front St. & Nun St. High Priority

What To Expect: Runners will pass you in the 10K and Half Marathon. The front runner should be there around 8:08am and the last runners should be there around 11:15am.

What To Do: Runners will be on the road coming up Front St. back toward town. Cheer on runners as they will be in a coned lane and making a left turn onto Nun St. There are also some barricades here, make sure drivers don't get out and move them.

Off Riverwalk Onto Water St At Market St. High Priority

What To Expect: Front runners will be by around 8:00am and the last runners should be there around 11:15am. Runners will be exiting off of the Riverwalk and onto the street.

What To Do: As runners come off the Riverwalk cheer them on and direct them onto Water St. There will be a "sweeper" that sticks with the last runner so you know when you're finished.

Riverwalk Turn Behind Convention Center High Priority

What To Expect: Front runners will be by around 8:00am and the last runners should be there around 11:15am. Runners will be on the Riverwalk and coming around some confusing corners. We will have some signs here, but we need you to help direct runners on the right path here (see diagram).

What To Do: Cheer them on and direct them along the Riverwalk behind the buildings. There will be a "sweeper" that sticks with the last runner so you know when you're finished.

What To Expect: Runners will pass you twice around mile 6 and again around mile 10.6. The first time you see runners, they need to continue straight staying to the left of all the cones. The next time you see them, they should stay in between the cones. We are using one lane, divided by cones to split runners.

What To Do: There should also be a barricade not allowing cars down Greenfield St. Make sure no one moves that barricade and just direct runners to continue straight in the correct area of the cones.

Lake Shore Dr. & Willard St. Medium Priority

What To Expect: Runners will pass you in the Half Marathon only at mile 6.4. The front runner will be there around 8:15am and the back runners should be there around 9:45am.

What To Do: There should also be barricades not allowing cars onto 5th from Willard St. Make sure no one moves those barricades and just direct runners to continue straight on 5th St. (which turns into Lake Shore Dr. at your position).

Lake Shore Dr. & S. 4th St. Medium Priority

E. Lake Shore Dr. Right Turn Onto Greenway Sidewalk High Priority

What To Do: Just direct runners to make this right turn on the Greenway sidewalk. There will be arrows on the road as well.

W. Lake Shore & Carolina Beach Rd. High Priority

What To Expect: Runners will be coming towards you and need to keep straight until path ends and then turn right.

What To Do: We will have arrows and signs directing runners on the path if you can just cheer them on and point them in the right direction. There is a small parking lot here that you can park in.

Burnett Blvd. & Willard - Off Sidewalk Onto Road High Priority

What To Expect: Runners will pass you in the Half Marathon at mile 6.5 and at mile 10.5. The front runner will be there around 8:20am and the back runners should be there around 10:40am.

What To Do: Runners will first head straight across Burnett and continue on Willard. On their way back from Greenfield Lake, have them exit the sidewalk here and turn left onto Willard. We need you to cheer them on and point them in the right direction.

What to Do: Hand water and Gatorade to runners and cheer them on! You will see 10K and Half Marathon runners. When you arrive, you will need to help get the station ready. This includes making Gatorade and filling cups with Gatorade and water. More details will be emailed closer to race day.
