Details

A couple of people are needed each year to assist with setting up the venue on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday Morning. This role is vital to the success of the event. Volunteers for this task should be able to lift at least 25lbs and have full mobility.

Event Break Down

June 5, 2027

Details

Several volunteers are needed each year to help dismantle banners and signage, and assist in general clean up following the event. This task is 1-2 hours in duration and requires some lifting and bending.

Start Line/Finish Line

Details

Start Line volunteers arrive early on Saturday morning and assist with managing the flow of the runners into color coded start zones. Following the start of each race they help arrange the finish line for the best flow of runners. They hand out water and direct people. This task is great for a group such as a sports team or non-profit group!

Course Water Stops

June 5, 2027

Details

Volunteers set up, manage and break down the water stops out on the course in Washington park. This is a great area for a group of 15-30 people.

Course Marshals

Details

This vital volunteer role includes manning points on the course to assist the Albany Police Department with assisting/monitoring runners on the course. The course is closed to traffic with barricades, so you are directing people versus managing traffic! Also a great way to see the race.

Refreshments

Details

Be the happy, smiling face that helps distribute refreshments to thousands of runners after they file out of the finishing chute into West Capitol Park. You must be willing to tell people they can only take one until everyone has been served.

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This very important task involves distributing runners bibs, chips, goodie bags, t-shirts and giving out event information to the runners. The packet pick-up takes place the day before the event (Thursday and Friday before the race) and the morning of the event. We have several groups/shifts available. Feel free to sign up for more than one shift.

Volunteers guide and assist runners who have any questions about the event. This position is only open to Training Challenge Mentors.

Kids Runs

Details

Help manage the kids at the start and finish of the Kids Run. Some of the team will hand out cookies after the kids are done running.

Capital Kids 3k

June 5, 2027

Details

The 3k starts immediately following the last finisher of the Women's 5k at 11:00am. Volunteers will help organize the runners (age 6-14), guide and direct runners on the course.

5K Awards Ceremony

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Race Day Information Ambassador

This team will help guide people on race day. They will know the event flow and be able to help people before they know they need help. You will identify people who need help and be there for them.

If you are injured, but normally run this is a GREAT position for you.
