Help the race director with odds and ends before the race starts and after it gets underway. This requires a great deal of flexibility as it may entail switching tasks rapidly. Set-up is anything from helping to put up tents and tables to building the finishers' chute.

Aid Station (Water Stop) Attendant Medium Priority

This volunteer task is full.

Details

The aid station attendant fills racer water bottles or provided cups and offers whatever electrolyte drink is available. Stations may also offer limited first aid kits and other items, such as electrolyte tablets or race fuel (goos, chews, gels, etc.). Attendants also break down the station when done. That includes dumping water out of the cooler and gathering the trash. If possible, they transport the table and other items back to check-in.

Road Marshal Medium Priority

Details

Point racers in the direction of turns and cheer for them. After last racer passes, remove the route arrow/signage at your station and return to start line. Safety vest provided.

Anyone under 14 years of age must have a responsible adult present to assist.

Finish Line (Select Appropriate Date for the Race You're Helping With)

Medal Manager Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Ensure each finisher receives the medal. Also ensures people are not standing in the way of the next finisher! That means asking people to stay clear of the finishing chute and racers to move so they don't get run over. This is NOT a wall flower position.

Photography Low Priority

Details

Take pictures of finishers and random shots before and during the race. After the race, pictures need to be shared with the race director. Use of pictures is without attribution or restriction as they are being done on behalf of the race.

Finish Line. If more than one volunteer, then a second person would be stationed on the course route.

Post-Race (Select Appropriate Date for the Race You're Helping With)

Food Service High Priority

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Help set-up, monitor, and serve food to racers and spectators. Spectators are only allowed food after all racers have been served or from the "Free for All" table, if there is one for a given race.

Near the finish line of each race.

Break Down Aid Low Priority

Details

Help the race director clean up in and around the building and related facilities. This may include taking down tents, tables, garbage, and related tasks.

Bike Support Medium Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Anyone providing bike support may be asked to lead the racers out and ride the course again to keep an eye on the final finisher. This requires excellent attention to detail as you must be able to keep an eye on the road, where you should be going, and the racers. Requires wearing a helmet and safety vest.
