ORRC Summer Solstice 5K at the Oregon Zoo

Volunteers will be responsible for:
+handing out race bibs & pins
+handing out admission bracelets
+handing out meal tickets
+handing out T-shirts (purchased in advance)
+registering Day of Race participants

Please report to your station by 4:45, as we need you there to help register participants 2+ hours before the actual race events begin at 6:45 and 7:00 pm.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $45 off any ORRC event.

Just inside the ticket booths inside the Zoo's Entry Plaza. There will be a tent and tables.

Volunteer(s) will be responsible for checking in/out bags for participants. For the security of our participants, this location should have someone stationed at it until all bags have been claimed.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Next to the Elephant Patio at the stairs leading up to the bridge at Elephant Lands.

This task happens before the event - may be the day before the event or just on the morning of the actual event.

This task is two-fold:
(1) meet at the Public Storage in Beaverton to load the vehicle(s)
(2) delivery of the supplies to the Oregon Zoo & distribute it around to strategic locations

Volunteers will work to set up the course with cones, signage, pop-up tents, tables, etc.

Oregon Zoo (various locations)

Tot Trot volunteers will coordinate a "run" for our youngest participants starting at the Elephant Lands Patio, across the bridge to Forest Hall and back.

The Tot Trot will start promptly at 6:45pm

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Start location: Elephant Lands Patio

Turnaround point: just in front of Forest Hall

There are 10 course marshal positions around the Zoo. Each spot will require at least one volunteer.

Course marshals will be responsible for making certain participants are safe and travel in the correct direction.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

V1 - bottom of Concert Lawn, next to Stage
V2 - intersection of Lower & Predator Service Roads
V3 - interesection of Sankuru Trader & Lower Service Road
V4 - crossing guard for Middle Service Road to Garden Way
V5 - intersection near Ed Center & Tiger exhibit
V6 - Discovery Plaza/Train Station
V7 - Pacific Shores near Harbor Seals
V8 - Central Plaza near Steller Snacks
V9 - Railroad tracks in front of Family Farm
V10 - North Meadows Service Road back to the start near Elephant Lands

At least 2 volunteer will be needed for this station.

Volunteers will help setup/teardown of the water station.

Volunteers will be responsible for filling cups and handing out water to participants.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $45 off any ORRC event.

The first "bump-out" around the concert lawn & Elephant Lands. This location is also known as Upper Viewing.

At least 2 volunteers will be needed for this station.

Volunteers will help setup/teardown of the cold treats station.

Volunteers will be responsible for handing out cold treats: ice cream or popsicles.
NOTE: dry-ice is typically used to cool the treats. Please bring gloves to protect your hands from the dry ice.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenners Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $45 off any ORRC event.

The second "bump-out" around the concert lawn & Elephant Lands. This location is also known as Middle Viewing.

The course closes promptly at 8:15pm. At which point, volunteers will help teardown the course and set equipment back to predetermined pickup locations.
