Details

Volunteers will be responsible for:
+handing out race bibs & pins
+handing out admission bracelets
+handing out meal tickets
+handing out T-shirts (purchased in advance)
+registering Day of Race participants

Please report to your station by 4:45, as we need you there to help register participants 2+ hours before the actual race events begin at 6:45 and 7:00 pm.
Then move to course as course monitor at point nearest zoo exit as directed by race director.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) or pizza as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $50 off any ORRC event.

Location

Just inside the ticket booths inside the Zoo's Entry Plaza. There will be a tent and tables.

Bag Drop and Cold Treat Station

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteer(s) will be responsible for checking in/out bags for participants. For the security of our participants, this location should have someone stationed at it until all bags have been claimed.

At approximately 7:15, volunteer will move to cold treat station and dispurse popsicle treats. NOTE: dry-ice is typically used to cool the treats. Please bring gloves to protect your hands from the dry ice.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) or pizza as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $50 off any ORRC event.

Location

Next to the Elephant Patio at the stairs leading up to the bridge at Elephant Lands for drop bags and then cold treat station on course near nearby across from amphitheater.

Loading Truck at Storage & Set Up Course Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This task happens before the event in the afternoon of the event.

This task is two-fold:
(1) meet at the Public Storage in Beaverton to load the vehicle(s)
(2) delivery supplies to the Oregon Zoo & distribute it around to strategic locations and set up course.

Details

Volunteers will work to set up the course with cones, signage, pop-up tents, tables, etc. and then help tear down course and load truck.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Tot Trot and start/finish line Course Marshal

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Tot Trot volunteers will coordinate a "run" for our youngest participants starting at the Elephant Lands Patio, across the bridge to Forest Hall and back.

The Tot Trot will start promptly at 6:45pm

After Tot Trot, go start line to help with 7 pm start and stay to ensure that course at start line is free of congestion.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) or pizza as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Course Marshal High Priority

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

There are 5-8 course marshal positions around the Zoo. Each spot will require at least one volunteer.

Course marshals will be responsible for making certain participants are safe and travel in the correct direction.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) or pizza as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $50 off any ORRC event.

V1 - bottom of Concert Lawn, next to Stage
V2 - intersection of Lower & Predator Service Roads
V3 - interesection of Sankuru Trader & Lower Service Road
V4 - crossing guard for Middle Service Road to Garden Way
V5 - intersection near Ed Center & Tiger exhibit
V6 - Discovery Plaza/Train Station
V7 - Pacific Shores near Harbor Seals
V8 - Central Plaza near Steller Snacks
V9 - Railroad tracks in front of Family Farm
V10 - North Meadows Service Road back to the start near Elephant Lands

Water Station and Course Tear Down Medium Priority

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

At least 2 volunteer will be needed for this station and tear down

Volunteers will help setup/teardown of the water station as well as help tear down course and load equipment on truck.

Volunteers will be responsible for filling cups and handing out water to participants.

Volunteers will receive a meal voucher for a Zenner's Hot Dog Meal (Hot Dog, Chips & Soda) or pizza as well as a voucher for an Elephant Ear.

Additionally, as a thank you for volunteering, each registered volunteer will receive a code after the event good for $50 off any ORRC event.

Location

The first "bump-out" around the concert lawn & Elephant Lands. This location is also known as Upper Viewing.
