Distribute race info to residents

August 15, 2024

Details

Take a lovely walk around the square and let residents know when the race is happening and how that impacts them. Task takes 1-3 hours depending on the number of volunteers.
We aim to deliver the letters about 1 week before the race. The time on the slots is not relevant as you are free to do the task at your convenience (though middle of the night should be avoided for safety reasons).

Manage barricades along race course High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

August 24, 2024

Details

This is our #1 race day need! We have to keep the course safe for the runners. We do that by putting barricades out at intersections and staffing those with volunteers. Please note that we are once again asking volunteers to place their barricades as we don't have the manpower to set them all up in the allotted pre-race time. It is a 2 person job to set them up! If you are unable to set up but willing to man your barricade, sign up to volunteer, notify the coordinator and we'll get you the help setting up and removing the barricade at the end. Kids are welcome to help but should be paired with an adult
Location assignments can be selected. If none are selected, I will assign based on priority of intersections.
New this year- we will have paid officers monitoring all streets that come off of S. Braddock so that first layer of volunteers won't encounter as many drivers.

Location

Along race course. If you have a preferred spot, let us know. First come, first served for locations but help is always (always!) needed.

Race Caboose

August 24, 2024

This volunteer task is full.

Details

Walk at the end of the pack holding signage indicated the conclusion of the race so barricade managers and water stops know to shut down. Help encourage all the runners. If you are able to make a banner/sign, or buy balloons for your caboose, please let the volunteer coordinator know. Some people are pretty crafty!

Remove No Parking Signs and errant barricades and race debris from the course

Minimum met, 9 volunteer spots remaining.

Details

Immediately after the 5k race, walk the course and help make sure Regent Square is all put back together. Bring scissors or cutters to remove No Parking signs. If a barricade is still blocking the course, please remove it. The laminated No Parking signs will need to be returned to the staff and we will provide that drop off information. This is a great job for a group, like Boy or Girl Scouts.
