Setup/Tear down High Priority

Details

Volunteers that help set-up or tear down the whole production.
These tasks would possibly include, signage setup, pavillion setup. Tasks will be assigned by event directors as needed.

NOTE: Volunteers are the first ones to arrive and the last to go home

Packet Pick-Up/Registration High Priority

Details

Responsible for verifying registration, checking participants off the list, and handing out
the previously prepared packet that belongs to that participant
● Those working race day registration will hand out the packets based on t-shirt size
● Navigate participant questions and direct timing related questions to the timer tent
● Those working registration are responsible for assigning bibs and ensuring all participant
information is received
○ They will periodically report to the timer to ensure participants have been inputted
prior to the race

Course Attendants High Priority

Details

Course volunteers will stand in assigned positions to direct runners and walkers ensuring they stay on course toward the finish line
○ They will need to use their voice and hand signals
● Course volunteers are needed everywhere there is a question of direction or an important turn in course

Water Station Attendant

Details

Responsible for taking all materials to assigned spot OR walking to assigned spot
designated as water stop
Volunteers will be responsible for passing out water to runners and walkers as they pass through this portion of the course
Pick up trash near water stop

Skills – Able to walk and stand for a 2 hour a.m. shift.
Able to lift 40 lb. water cooler

Start/Finish Line Attendants High Priority

Details

Move runners/walkers to the start line. Help keep strollers and dogs at the rear of the pack.

○ Passing out water
○ Directing runners through the finish chute
○ Passing out food/directing runners to food

Skills – Loud clear voice, outgoing personality.

Able to walk and stand for about a 3 hour shift.

Set up and restock refreshments.
Clean up area after race

Skills - Some lifting required, 5 gallon water jugs, boxes of fruit, garbage bags. Able to walk and stand for a 3 hour a.m. shift.

Assist with sickle cell trait testing via finger stick, administrative duties, sample collection, SCD awareness education

Cheer Team

Cheer on our walkers and runners as they hit the pavement for sickle cell! Teams will be strategically placed at the start/finish line and at the mid-way point of the course (w/chaperone)
