Details

Description : This is a gear hauling and tent setup activity on Friday afternoon. We will be hauling a tent, sleeping bags and other gear to the summit. Volunteers must come with a large pack and ready to carry 40-50 lbs of weight each up to the summit. Folks are welcome to continue to volunteer at the summit, but be sure to bring a set of dry clothing and sign up for a volunteer shift. The temperatures could be cool and wet or warm and dry. Volunteers should wear clothing appropriate for the weather (shell, jacket, shorts, pants, gloves, cap, etc.)

Base Aid Station Setup Rock Canyon Park Medium Priority

Details

Description : This activity will involve helping setup the base aid station. Set up signs, set out food, set up heaters, organize supplies, and assist runners. This task also includes checking in runners and handing out bibs and swag.

Summit Teardown High Priority

Details

Description : This activity will involve making one trip to the summit with your own large and empty backpack. Once on the summit the tent will need to be taken down packed. The tent along with gear will then be carried back down to Rock Canyon Park, pavilion 4.

Kyhv Peak Summit Aid Station High Priority

Details

Description : This involves a 8 mile (round-trip) hike up to the top of Kyhv Peak with a hiking backpack with gear. It is strenuous simply getting up to the aid station. Once on-top it may be cool and wet or dry and warm. It's recommend to bring a second set of dry and warm clothing to change into on the summit. Each shift allows for 1 hour 45 minutes travel time to the summit, four hours on the summit and then 1.5 hour return hike. We will have a tent and sleeping bags for night time shifts, but volunteers will be expected to come prepared and ready to take care of themselves for at least 6 hrs. Volunteers will be expected to have clothing similar to what they would bring on a backpacking trip (warm layers, jacket, cap, hat and gloves, etc.) Volunteers may be asked to carry 1-2 gallons of water in addition to any other supplies they might need. Volunteers will use their own phone and data to check in runners when they reach the summit.
The race will provide sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and a small camp stove.

Rock Canyon Park Pavilion 4 Aid Station High Priority

Details

Description : This aid station is at the Rock Canyon Park, Pavilion 4. While there will be water and food, volunteers MUST come prepared for varying weather conditions. Volunteers will assist in making food, washing cups, filling water bottles and assisting runners. This task may also includes checking in runners and handing out bibs and swag.

Timer High Priority

Details

Description : This aid station is at the Rock Canyon Trail Head Pavilion. While there will be shelter, water and food, volunteers MUST come prepared for varying Utah spring weather conditions. Timers will enter the number of the runners in the iPad as they leave and return to the Base Aid station.
