Summit Setup - Friday 2/6/2026

Details

This is a gear hauling and tent setup activity on Friday evening. We will be hauling a bunch of gear up to the summit, setting up the expedition tent, and stashing gear. Volunteers must come with a large pack and ready to carry 40-60 lbs of weight each up to the summit. It will very likely be extremely cold. Volunteers should bring very warm boots (mountaineering, or sorels recommended) and warm ski-gear (coats, pants, gloves, full hat, etc.) You are allowed to drive up to Church Fork given that you will be coming with all of your gear.

Pickup rental shuttle vehicle from Enterprise and/or drive vans to transport runners and volunteers between check-in at Black Diamond Equipment and the Church Fork Aid Station. All the information you will need to be successful will be provided to drivers before the event.

Church Fork Teardown - Saturday 2/7/2026

This activity will involve helping Mike McMonagle with breaking down and packing up the aid station, making numerous very short trips to the base camp in Church Fork, breaking down and packing up tents, shelving, etc., and loading the U-Haul truck

Summit Teardown - Saturday 2/7/2026

Details

This activity will involve making one trip to the summit with a large and empty pack. Once on the summit the tent will need to be taken down and packed. The tent along with gear will then be carried back down to Church Fork.

While there will be heat and food, volunteers MUST come prepared for extremely cold conditions. Tasks may include preparing food and serving runners, washing dishes, and other regular aid station tasks.

Tasks may include preparing food and serving runners, washing dishes, helping with timing and runner tracking, keeping drink containers filled, and other regular aid station tasks.

These volunteers will be stationed in the Timing Tent and will be responsible for timing and runner tracking using Open Split Time.

This volunteer will coordinate with Summit Volunteers as they arrive, communicating with the Summit to send supplies/etc., and will assist with other regular aid station tasks such as serving runners and/or helping in the kitchen.

Church Fork Super Volunteer

The Super Volunteers will be pivotal for efficiency of aid station setup and teardown -- this shift includes 4-5 hours of setup on Friday (2/6/2026) AND ~3 hours of teardown on Saturday (2/7/2026) **8 hours total**

Having helped unload the U-Haul and unpacked supplies on Friday, these volunteers will help lead the teardown efforts on Saturday, knowing which supplies get packed in which boxes, how things get loaded into the U-Haul, etc.

This volunteer will be responsible for checking in runners and distributing race bibs for the Saturday afternoon 6-hour event from about 10:30am to 12:00pm, and otherwise assisting at the Church Fork Aid Station.
