Volunteer Check-In #1 at Byrd Park

Details

Will be a lead volunteer and will check-in volunteers as they arrive. Will give volunteers t-shirt, name tag, and any additional supplies they might need.

Will provide map to volunteers and direct them to their station.

Volunteer Check-In #2 at Maymont Entrance

Details

You will be a lead volunteer and will check-in volunteers for race day. You will provide volunteers with t-shirt and any additional supplies they might need.

Will provide volunteer with map and direct them to their specific area.

Packet Pick-Up

September 7, 2024

Details

Packet Pick-up volunteers will hand out bibs and participant packets to already registered participants who were unable to attend packet pick-up dates at the CKG office. Participants should have bib numbers available.

Packet pick-up will be from 7:00am-9:00am.

After participant(s) has completed registration volunteers will assign them a bib and will give them a t-shirt and participant goody bag.

Participants who were unable to pick up packet at the CKG office can pick up packet on race day. Volunteers will get packet, corresponding bib #, and t-shirt for participant.

Start Area Volunteers

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Start area volunteers will hold pace signs for participants to line up in appropriate areas at start line.

These volunteers will lead their "waves" to the start line.

Race Course Marshal

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Course marshals will be set up at different locations along the race course. Course Marshals will make sure participants stay on course and keep moving.

Course Marshals will help direct participant traffic and keep participants safe.

Cheer Zone #1

Details

Volunteers at cheer zone will cheer for all participants as they pass by. CKG will provide clappers, noise makers, and/or bubbles for volunteers.

Volunteers will make this cheer zone area fun for participants while running/walking by with lots of cheering and words of encouragement!

Fun Zone: Silly String

Details

Fun Zone- Silly String volunteers will be placed at the silly string fun zone along the course. CKG will provide volunteers with silly string. These volunteers will be high energy and provide a fun experience for all participants!

Water Stop #1

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers will set-up and distribute small cups of water to participants. This water stop is along the race course near the entrance of Maymont. Volunteers will assist with clean up of cups during event and will clean up and breakdown water station after final participants have passed by.

These volunteers will check in at Volunteer Check-In #2 on race day.

Cheer Zone #2

Details

Volunteers at cheer zone will cheer for all participants as they pass by! CKG will provide clappers, noise makers, and/or bubbles for volunteers.

Volunteers will be high energy and make cheer zone area fun for participants while running/walking by with lots of noise, fun, and words of encouragement!

Fun Zone: Splash/Bubble

Details

Volunteers at the Splash Zone will provide a fun atmosphere for participants as they run/walk by. CKG will provide water and water guns for volunteers to splash participants.

Volunteers will cheer for participants and encourage them along the course.

Fun Zone: Rave

Details

Volunteers in the Rave Zone will cheer for participants as they go through the rave tent. CKG will provide volunteers with noise makers. Volunteers will provide a fun and energetic atmosphere for participants.

Cheer Zone #3

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers at cheer zone will cheer for all participants as they pass by! CKG will provide clappers, noise makers, and/or bubbles for volunteers.

Volunteers will be high energy and make cheer zone area fun for participants while running/walking by with lots of noise, fun, and words of encouragement!

Finisher Gift Distribution

Details

Volunteers will hand out finisher gift to participants as they finish the race!

Water Station Post-Race

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers will assist in distributing cups/water to participants post-race at water stop located along exit of race course and into post-race party area.

Post Race Food

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers will assist in distributing food to participants as they exit race course and enter into the post-race party area.

Volunteers will make sure tables are stocked with participant food and will be provided with gloves to wear.

On Course Clean Up Crew

September 7, 2024

Details

On course clean up crew will follow behind the final group of participants to clean up trash along course. Volunteers will take up route arrows off of the ground.

Clean up crew will assist the volunteers at cheer zones, water stations, and fun zones with additional clean up.

CKG will provide gloves and trash bags for volunteers.

Event Breakdown

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers will pick up signage and materials from along the course and bring back to CKG trailer for loading.

After event is over these volunteers will help breakdown necessary signage at start line, finish line, and post-race party area.

*Optional - Ability to unload trucks at the Cameron K. Gallagher Office located at 3200 Rockbridge Street, Suite 102, Richmond, VA 23230 (heavy lifting)

CKG Office Trailer and Truck Unloading

September 7, 2024

Details

Volunteers will meet at CKG office and/or CKG storage unit to assist with unloading of race day supplies.

This happens immediately after post-race party has ended and event has been broken down completely.

Event Set Up

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Volunteers will assist CKG staff with set up of event on Saturday morning at Byrd Park.

*Could include heavy lifting or moving heavy/large objects.

Parking Control

September 7, 2024

Details

Assist in parking lot with flow of cars as participants arrive to event.

Floater

You must be 22 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Floating volunteers will assist Race Director wherever needed on race day.

Bag Check

September 7, 2024

Details

Bag check volunteers will help participants check their bags for storage during the race. Volunteers will have participants place their items into a bag, provided by CKG, will take the bag check tag from participant bibs, and store items at bag check tent while participants race.

Walk-Up Registration

September 7, 2024

Details

Walk-up registration volunteers will assist people who would like to register the morning of the event. A QR code will be provided for people to register for event.

Walk-up registration volunteers will have participants sign a waiver and give them a bib and participant packet.
