March is the Green Season on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State
Towering evergreens. Endless moss and ferns. Miles of waterfront. Snowcapped mountains. Need a cure for gray-season blues? Frosty Moss has you covered. Paired with iconic places such as pristine Lake Crescent inside Olympic National Park, historic railroad bridges and tunnels, and Jamestown Skallam Tribal Campus.
No Road Running!
Unlike other relays, Frosty Moss Relay takes place almost entirely off-road on paved and dirt trails - specifically the Olympic Discovery Trail and Olympic Adventure Trails. There are few city blocks to contend with, but for the most part you can relax and enjoy your run without the worry of car traffic. A portion of race proceeds is donated for the construction and maintenance of the trails!
🐌 Awards aren't just for the winners!
Awards will be given at the party for the 1st place 2-3 person Frosty Moss Team, 1st place 4-5 person Frosty Moss Team, 1st Place Mini Moss Team, 1st Place man and woman 50K, Last Place Frosty Moss Team (Last Slug Standing), Middle Place Frosty Moss Team (Mediocrity Award), Best Team Theme (1st and 2nd place), and Best Exchange Zone (best exchange hosted by a youth organization and best exchange hosted by a general organization). See the “Results” page of this website for explanation of the Mediocrity Awards and to see past award winners for all the categories.
🌿No special vehicle needed Unlike other relays, teams are max of 5 people - so no need to find a large capacity vehicle to borrow or rent! Also with only 80 miles, the longest it will take to finish is 16 hours (course time limit - 12mm average team pace).

The Nitty Gritty
👉 PRO TIP!
This if for those teams looking for an even more fun running road trip (not for the competitors). Recruit a second team to pair with your team. Pair one of your runners with one who runs a similar pace on the second team, and they commit to running together the entire day. That way your peeps will always have a buddy on the trail, even as the pack gets spread out as the day goes by. Instead of having just your own running road trip, you’ll have double the fun with your buddy team! What happens at the relay, stays at the relay
