Our Mission
The Tucker Community Foundation, founded in 1989 in Tucker County, West Virginia, has expanded its services to Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Tucker, and Upshur counties in West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland. Our mission is to inspire a sustainable future through a culture of giving without expecting personal gain.
Our Program
Run For It is a program created by the Tucker Community Foundation in 2007 that encourages healthy activities while supporting non-profit organizations, civic groups, and charities in our service area. The initiative has raised over $3.2 million, allowing teams to generate funds through entry fees, sponsorships, and race-day awards. Half the entry fees and all sponsorship and award donations go to the chosen causes. The program supports various issues, including arts, animal welfare, education, community improvement, and more, while also serving as a networking opportunity for multiple organizations in our region and beyond.
Our Impact
Run For It brings together people from all walks of life committed to making a positive impact. The 2025 campaign kicks off on April 1, leading to a 2k walk and a 5k walk/run on September 27 during the Leaf Peeper's Festival in Davis, WV. In 2024, the event attracted 1,405 participants and raised $332,000, benefiting 79 non-profit organizations and groups in our nine-county service area.

In the aftermath of catastrophic floods in West Virginia in November 1985, a group of committed philanthropists in Tucker County were motivated to establish a grassroots community foundation. Their vision was to create an organization that would extend beyond the flood-affected areas and have a global impact. Today, the Tucker Community Foundation is renowned for facilitating sustainable giving that benefits both the donor and the recipient. We are a motivational model for a sounder, more productive future through a commitment to our community: giving without expecting a monetary return.
The Foundation manages over $41 million in assets and offers services beyond its headquarters in Parsons, West Virginia. In addition to managing endowed funds, the Foundation endeavors to actively expand its focus towards more opportunities and collaborative projects in the communities we serve in West Virginia and Maryland.
