Marathon Relay Rules & Instructions
The Wausau Marathon is excited to bring back the relay in 2026. Thank you for participating. Please make sure all team members have read the rules.
- Teams will consist of 2-4 members.
- Each team member must complete at least 1 leg of the relay.
- Each team member must be registered with the race with a signed waiver.
- There is just one division for the relay.
- The relay will begin with the marathon at 6:30am.
- Each team will be given one race bib and one race belt. This is your team's baton to exchange at each specified zone along the course.
- Exchanges MUST occur at the designated exchange zones along the course. Violators of this rule will be disqualified.
- First team to reach the finish is the winner. Winners will receive Goodr sunglasses or a gift card.
- Each team member will receive a Wausau Marathon finisher medal.
Exchange Zones
The exchange zones are at specified aid stations. This will make them easier to find. Please make sure you park off of the course. Relay legs are not equal in distance, please plan accordingly.
Exchange zone 1: Mile 7 aid station located at the Birch St & Ross Ave intersection in Weston.
Exchange zone 2: Mile 13.1 aid station located at 2211 Paniolo Rd, Kronenwetter.
Exchange zone 3: Mile 20.6 aid station located at the Lakeshore Dr & Parkside Ave intersection in Rib Mountain.
