Our ‘06K is a nod to our affiliate organization Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and their 1906 founding. This year, we're not just racing; we're making strides towards initiatives that battle Sickle Cell and Sickle Cell Trait Awareness. Sickle cell disease (SCD) and sickle cell trait research and treatment have historically faced deficits in funding, research prioritization, and accessibility of care compared to other illnesses.
The Alexandria Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non‐profit, has a legacy of empowering the youth of the Greater Houston area through scholarships and community initiatives like the Alpha Academy Mentoring Program, Alphas Read Literacy Program, March for Babies, Scouts BSA, and many other worthwhile endeavors.
