The Governor’s Cup half marathon remains in Jefferson County in 2020. The 13.1-mile journey starts in Clancy and joins up with the marathon route less than a mile into the race. Runners will encounter a demanding hill section at Miles 3 to 7, and will face the aptly named Cardiac Hill at the start of Mile 11. Participants looking for a beautiful setting and a challenge will arrive at the finish line satisfied and hungry for more. The net elevation loss is 162 feet (4,272 to 4,110) and the cumulative elevation gain throughout the race is 638 feet.
Please visit our half marathon page at govcupmt.com for complete race details, where we have maps and elevation profiles available.
All participants are asked to line up according to their anticipated finishing times. Please be considerate of your fellow runners: Slower runners, walkers, and baby stroller participants please start toward the end of the line to allow elite racers a smooth start.
Portable restrooms will be located every 3 miles on the marathon and half marathon courses, frequently on all other races, and at the start and finish lines.
Water stations are available every three miles along the marathon and half marathon and frequently along all other courses. We highly encourage all participants to hydrate before, during, and after the race.
