Who can enter the challenge?
This challenge is designed for anyone and everyone! With the challenge of covering as few as 14-20 miles a week, anyone in your family can participate. You can also encourage family members to join you to help you achieve your goal. You can run/bike/walk/swim from anywhere to participate.
What do I get?
Your inherent reward is that you are improving your fitness while supporting WomenCARE and women with cancer in Santa Cruz County. All challenges will also receive a unique Reno to the Redwoods tee shirt, unisex or female-specific, and a sticker for you to decorate your computer, notebook, etc. And each challenger will receive a virtual challenge bib that can be downloaded from the race page, participation in an active leaderboard, live map tracking along our course and a digital finisher's certificate with all your stats!
When can I receive my shirt and sticker? And how do I get them?
We will start processing after registration and will be available from June 15 until June 30.. Santa Cruz participants can pick up at the WomenCARE office, 2901 Park Avenue, Suite 1A, Soquel, CA, during office hours Mon/Wed 9a-1p. Tues/Thurs 1p-5p. They can also be picked up at the June 1 walk! If you are local, and would like yours mailed, please choose that option and $5 will be added to your registration fee. All those out of town can have them mailed without charge.
How do I complete the challenge?1
You can complete it any way you wish. Walk, run, swim, bike, roll, spin—-whatever makes you happy! And you can cover your miles any day, and in any way, that best works for you.
What are the dates for the challenge?
You can register starting April 1 and the challenge begins April 15 and ends July 15. You can start anytime after April 15. Remember the later you start, the more challenging your challenge will be.
How do you track our progress?
This challenge relies on the honor system. We encourage you to take photos of your watch, phone screen, treadmill, etc to share your results and/or activity on the Facebook Challengers page.
These are the ways you can track and prove your accomplishment.
Go to RenototheRedwoods.com. Submit your activity updates via the RESULTS page.
Go to the Results tab on the menu. At the top of the page, it will say “Post your Virtual Results”. Hit the blue “Submit Virtual Results” button. Search for your name and follow the steps.
Join our Reno to the Redwoods Facebook group. You can upload photos of your activity and also connect with other challengers.
What is the charity this challenge is supporting?
100% of your donations go directly to WomenCARE a local non-profit providing a safe haven where women with any type of cancer find mutual support, shared experiences and open hearts. WomenCARE provides cancer advocacy, resources, education, and support to women, their families and friends, and healthcare practitioners at each stage of the journey: diagnosis, healing, surviving, or dying.
