Safety Measures

**WE WILL ADDRESS 2021 SAFETY MEASURES AS WE GET CLOSER TO RACE DAY AND ADJUST ACCORDING TO CDC, STATE AND COUNTY HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDLINES. BELOW IS A TENTATIVE PLAN**

Our staff is passionate about providing quality events. We are committed to doing so while following the health and safety guidelines set by St. Louis County. Please see some of the safety measures we will have in place for the event, and please check back here often as guidelines are subject to change.

Masks
All volunteers, event staff, participants, and spectators will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of the event. Participants will need to wear a mask before and after running but will not be asked to wear your mask while you are running.

Registration
There will be no in-person race day registration available and will be online only.

Spectators
Friends and family welcome are to spectate and cheer, but please limit attendees to those living in your home.  All spectators must wear masks on race site.  Spectators will be asked to maintain social distancing.

Restrooms
Port-o-potties will be onsite and will be set up in a way that will allow those waiting to be socially distant. Hand sanitizer will be provided inside and outside of the port-o-potties. Hand washing stations will also be available outside of the port-o-potties.

Wave Starts
We will be using a small, staggered wave start of 50-60 runners per wave over the course of three hours to ensure safe and proper spacing on the course. We will assign wave start times by self-reported expected pace per mile with the faster runners going first, followed by the slower runners. Please pay attention to race week communication, as this is when your start time will officially be scheduled.  This will result in extremely low course density allowing runners plenty of space for peace of mind and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Beaumont Scout Reservation.

Water Stations
We will have a water station at the half-way point and will consist of small water bottles for each participant. Volunteers will be required to wear mask and gloves while setting up the tables. Tables will be sanitized prior to setting water bottles on them.  Runners will have to grab their own bottle.  Volunteers will not be allowed to hand bottles to runners. Trash cans will be available to minimize our footprint. As Scouts, we will leave the course cleaner as when we arrived.

Awards
Awards presentation will occur at 10:15AM in the field near the Emerson Center.

If you have any concerns about these measures or would like more information, please feel free to contact our Race Director, Emily Joellenbeck at emily.joellenbeck@scouting.org.
