FAQ's

Q: What safety measures will be used due to COVID?
A: We will be taking temperatures upon arrival. Those with fevers over 100.4 will not be allowed to enter the property. Masks and social distancing will be required. You will not be asked to wear your mask while you are running. For more information, please check out our Safety Measures page.

Q: What will on-course support be like?
A: We will provide a water station at the half-way point and at the race finish, however we recommend you bring your own. We ask that runners come prepared with energy gels, chews, or electrolytes before, during, or post event. For more information, please check out our Safety Measures page.

Q: What social distancing requirements can I expect at the race?
A: Unless you are from same common household, we ask that all runners stay socially distanced while in the event areas, including but not limited to packet pick up, start line, on course, finish line and any post-race festivities. Due to the county COVID restrictions, we may be starting the race in waves.  We will notify you through the email provided at registration the Monday before the race with your official start time.

Q: Where do I pick up my run packet?
A: When you register for the event, you will receive an email reply with information on how to get your packet. In order to help us keep the registration area less congested, we prefer you pick up your packet at the designated time and place, but if you are unable to be there, you may pick your packet up at the registration table the day of the race. If you pick up your packet, there will be no need to stop at the registration table upon your arrival on the event day.

Q: What can I expect at the finish line?
A: The finish line will be broken down into chutes, when you cross the finish we ask you to put your mask back on. While navigating the finish line chute, you will need to remain socially distanced.

Q: What if I win an award or what about my finisher medal (if applicable)?
We will look at having an award ceremony as we get closer to the event.  In the event there is not an award ceremony, runners will be encouraged to depart earlier than a traditional race, and awards will be mailed or arranged for pick up for all age group and overall winners. If applicable, finisher medals will be distributed at the finish.

Q: If the race is canceled, what can I expect?
A: If the race is canceled or shut down by county/city health officials we will transfer all in-person registrations to a virtual option, or allow you to defer your current entry to next year's race.

Q: What safety measures will be in place?
A: The health and safety of everyone is our number one priority, to see all of our planned safety measures, please visit our safety page. The Run for Scouts 5K Run wants everyone to feel safe while attending the event. Expect masks to be required, social distancing to be enforced, and low course density - allowing everyone to enjoy their races, while maintaining safety protocols.

Q: Are spectators allowed?
A: The health and safety of everyone is our number one priority.  Spectators will (currently) be allowed, but we would ask that they be from the same household as the runner. All spectators will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. We look forward to enjoying the race in a big way next year!

Q: What do I receive with my registration?
A: With your registration to the 5K Run, you will receive an official Run for Scouts 5K Run long-sleeved shirt, Run for Scouts 5K Run bib number, and a commemorative finisher’s medal. Awards for top finishers in each age bracket.

Q: Will the race be timed?
A: Yes this race will be a ChronoTrack chip-timed event. All results and awards will be based on chip times.

Q: Is the course certified?
A: No.

Q: Is there a time limit?
A: Yes, we have a time limit of one hour for the 5K run.

Q: Where do I park?
A: Excellent question! In order to maintain the safety of the runners, there's a big field across the street from Beaumont Scout Reservation that you can access. There will be volunteers available to direct you.
