Activity types allow challenge events complete flexibility and customization by allowing participants to log all sorts of things. Check out our blog post for an in depth example of setting up a Triathlon. For the summer challenge example the activity types are technically optional because it's a distance challenge, but if you have more than one activity type you will need to add each one separately here.
Click the orange Add Activity Type button to get started.
Activity Type - Choose from Run, Ride, Swim, Walk, Ski, Paddle/row, or custom.
Data Entry Tally Type - The total tally is defined at the event level. However, you can allow certain conversions such as meters to km when participants enter their information.
Max Tally (Optional) - This is the maximum total that can be entered for the activity. This is optional, but for the purpose of limiting participants to 200 miles this can be enforced here.
Show Field for Activity Tally Total? - This adds a column to the results for the activity which will display the overall tally for each participant.
Time Entry - Allow or require a time to also be submitted in addition to the activity tally. Times make sense for some challenges like a Triathlon challenge, but might not make sense for things like pushup challenges. On the other hand, time might be the only thing required for things like plank challenges or amount of time doing meditation.
Show Splits for Activity Total? - This will show the results for each activity in the results.
Require at Least 1 of this Activity? - If enabled, participants will be required to upload all required activity types at once.
Require at Most 1 of this Activity? - If enabled, participants will be required to upload all required activity types at once.
Elevation Gain - Allow or require elevation to also be submitted in addition to the activity tally. Elevation gain make sense for some challenges like a stair climb or biking challenge.
Here is an example of the Activity page. For this example of a 200 Mile Distance Challenge the activity type step is not required, but if you wanted to set it up it would look something like this.
There are additional icons at the top-right of each Activity Type that will allow you to sort or delete.
Be sure to save the settings by clicking the blue Save button at the bottom or at the top-right of the screen.
For details on how this looks on the front end for participants submitting activities, check out our Activity Timelines blog post.
