#SockOutSuicide began eight years ago after Okemos High School ACTION advisor lost her husband to suicide.
He was known for wearing bright, cheerful socks.
On May 16th, we wear colorful socks to honor his memory and to symbolize the uniqueness of every individual’s journey.
These socks serve as more than just a tribute—they're a powerful conversation starter. They help break the silence around mental health, spark meaningful discussions about suicide prevention, and remind us all of the hope, help, and support that exist within our community.

As OHS ACTION promotes their #SockOutSuicide campaign, they encourage all to commit to sharing a pledge
