As we approach what would have been Addi's 15th birthday, my heart swells with complex emotions and my mind is stuffed with powerful memories. Her time with us was too short, but the vibrant spirit and powerful legacy of my daughter - Addi "15A1" Carroll continue to inspire and guide me every single day. She had an indomitable spirit and lived relentlessly with incredible strength. She had a remarkable gift for uniting people and inspiring them to help each other.
Although Addi's medical battle is over - her light shines on, a beacon of hope and love. In 2022, Big Beautiful Life was founded to honor her legacy and continue her important work. Our mission is to bring joy and comfort to children facing chronic medical crises and support those who rally around them. Together, we envision a world where these brave young heroes are truly the heroes of their own stories, surrounded by joy, unwavering community, and practical help, leaving a lasting legacy of hope through their incredible resilience.
Addi also held a special place in her heart for the Essex Fire Department, her "Fire Family." They were a constant source of support and joy throughout her life, embodying the very spirit of community we strive for. It is not lost on me that their department number is also 15.
So, on what would have been Addi's 15th birthday (and the days that follow - because Addi thought Happy Birthdays were an every day kinda thing), I'm asking you to join me in honoring her by supporting both Big Beautiful Life and the Essex Firefighters Association.
