I am participating in the 2026 Ruck4HIT because Heroes in Transition has touched my family’s life in such a meaningful way. The programs they offer create a space where military families can connect, support one another, and feel understood during the unique challenges that come with service and transition. Through their community, my family has found encouragement, friendship, and a sense that we are never navigating this journey alone.
I am rucking in honor of my husband, Owen, who recently retired from the Coast Guard after 24 years of dedicated service to our country. I am also rucking for my father, a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran and three-time Purple Heart recipient whose courage, sacrifice, and strength have always been an inspiration to me. I also ruck for my father-in-law, who also served proudly as a Marine, for my brothers who proudly served in the Air Force and the Navy, and for the many close friends in my life who have also worn the uniform and served our country with dedication and sacrifice.
Ruck4HIT is more than just miles on a trail. It is a way to honor those who have served, support veterans and military families, and ensure organizations like Heroes in Transition can continue their vital work. If you are able, please consider donating or supporting my ruck. Every contribution helps provide connection, resources, and hope for veterans and families navigating life during and after service.
