Many of you already know that I have run the Rock N Race several times to honor my father, Don Hill, who is a survivor! My father has been challenged by cancer three times, in 1979, 2008, and 2017, thankfully all discovered early, and in an era where the knowledge and resources available to fight cancer enable him to still be with us today. After treatments in 2017, he was lucky enough to ring the bell at the Payson Center and walk out cancer free.
My father will be 75 years old on March 17th, and I want to honor him in a special way this year, by forming a team of family and friends to walk with him through the streets of Concord and to provide generous support to the Payson Center for Cancer Care HOPE Resource Center in his name. Dad worked for the State of NH for 36.5 years, first in the Department of Education, and then in the Department of Administrative Services, where he served as the Commissioner of Administrative Services from 1996 - 2008. I am so excited to do this for him, and so close to the State House Annex, his working home for almost three decades.
Please spread the word and encourage people to join Hill's Herd! Whether you grew up with my dad, worked with him, play cards with him, or are connected in other ways, please join us on May 8th in Concord to support those who are fighting their own battles with cancer today. My mother, Tim, and I will all be there with him to walk the mile. If you grew up with us, spent time at the house, played on a team Dad coached, joined in the adventures at camp on Silver Lake, or otherwise, please come join us to celebrate and thank my father. Your time and efforts to support my wishes, my father, and those fighting cancer are greatly appreciated, and we will have more information about gathering after the Rock N Race to celebrate Dad and thank all of you for being part of this team!
