In honor of our incredible daughter, Charlie, who was diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) at birth, we are raising funds to support ongoing research and awareness for this rare condition. Charlie has shown remarkable strength and resilience, and we want to help other families facing similar challenges.
What is HIE?
HIE occurs when a baby’s brain does not get enough oxygen during birth, leading to potential brain damage. While Charlie is a true survivor, many others face long-term challenges, and HIE often goes undiagnosed or misunderstood. With your support, we can raise awareness, fund research, and help provide resources for families in need.

Hustle for Hope 5K: Jason and I are participating once again in the Hustle for Hope 5K - Walk, Run, Roll, and we would love for you to join us! This event raises awareness and funds for HIE, and there’s a virtual option for those who can’t attend in person. Hope for HIE chose the virtual format to meet the needs of its global community, offering flexibility, diversity, and inclusion.
How it Works:
- You pick your own date, time, and location (indoors or outdoors) to complete the 5K.
- You can participate in any form of mobility (walk, run, or roll), or join one of our locally hosted events!
- Complete the 5K all at once, or break it up over time.
- We encourage you to sign up and share your participation on social media using the hashtags #HustleforHope and #HopeforHIE to help raise awareness for this important cause!
Race Details:
Standard Registration Fee: $30 (Mar 16 – Apr 15)
Each Registrant Receives: A finisher medal, race bib, other small swag, and educational materials to share about HIE.
